Working Abroad... What do you think?

Philippines

Have you considered yourself to work abroad? We all know that salaries here in the Philippines are pretty low and can't afford to let us live the luxury of life. Or can even pay for the tuition of our kids. Are you willing to sacrifice a little for your families welfare and getting far from our love one's or do you still prefer to stay in here and try your luck? What do you think? And if your not a Filipino have you ever considered it too or you just want to travel abroad and look at it's beautiful spots? I really love to hear something from you guys hope you will give your share on responding to my discussion. ^_^

I used to think so, but still I think that it is not so easy to get a job abroad. Besides I have no idea what I can do if I work abroad. I am engaged in English teaching in China and what I can do working abroad is to teach Chinese, but I have no idea whether Chinese learning is as popular as English learning like we do in China. If yes, I would like to try my luck working abroad to make more money and to travel as well.

So there is no possibility for me to teach Chinese abroad as there are only some individuals who want to learn Chinese instead of having it as a foreign language in a school. But I am happy to teach you if you want to learn for free.

Hello Bro. william, I think it's a common dream to us asian to work abroad and travel as well and look for a greener pasture. Just try our luck at a new place, a new invironment and a new culture. We're all like that maybe because we are adventurous in nature. Well, i think so. there's still a lot of individuals who want to learn chinese language and im proud to say that i'm one of those people who wants to learn another lanuage. LOL! Hope you'll teach me if you have time. But the sad part is , i don't have the capacity to pay for your talent fee or let's say teaching fee. Hehhehehe...

If I am not overaged then I would have applied for a job abroad. Let's face the fact that life here in the Philippines is getting harder because of high standard of living, increase in prices of basic commodities, basic utilities like light and water services, increase in tuition and other school fees and a lot more. The only chance to compensate these expenses as of now is to find a job abroad considering the pay you get and the benefits you will receive. Survival depends so much on the income one is receiving. In order to cope up our life's demands is for us to find the most practical means we can think of, that is, having a good job abroad, even to detriment of family relationship. Truly, sacrifice is just a part of survival.

Thanks for responding ryan. ^_^

while there's the chance of working abroad and while you are still at your young age, then why not grab it NOW. well, i understand your predicament of having a 1 year old kid but i appreciate your determination to push through with your plans later. i would say go ahead because the reality of it all is that we cannot be assured of our future while we will be just staying here in our country. good luck.

i have always considered working abroad. but i have never considered working in a field totally different from the course i took back in college. i think that all my hardships in college would go to waste if i took a complete different field. i have applied before for a malaysian company that is within my line of job but i didnt get accepted! the HR thought i was too beautiful to be in a field. LOL i didnt applied again. ^__^;; they emailed me again and said they needed another batch of employees. i turned them down. i thought-twice. ^__^;; i'll just wait for another opportunity. ^__^

Woww.. you really turned them down secretbear? I haven't done that with my entire life. LOL! The employers often turned me down. Hahaha! That is why I'm working double time so that I will get hired. As of now I'm contented with my job but in a way im beginning to get bored. That is why im considering to work abroad. It doesn't really really bother me if it is line with my course at college. What is more important to me is having a job to support my family and my personal needs. But if i land a job in line with my course would be great and appreciated! Congratulations Secretbear! I really admire person with principles and knows what they want in their lives. Hope you will get your chance soon. :)

yes i know lot of us want to work abroad due to low salary here in the Philippines, we have the same problem too. i had apply for canada but unfortunately landed to an illegal recruiter. we all wish that our kids go to nice school, have nice dress, good food and healthy living. i decided to go abroad and sacrifice all of this for my family. it is so hard here to earn mojney even you got your own business. we have to be prepare for every consequences for applying job in abroad, its better to work abroad solo than having family in abroad all your earning will be the same here in Philippines. Earning dollar spend dollar too, if we work alone and send it to our love ones here it will save much much more than staying with your family abroad.

Hello jc, Ohh that's sad. Actually it is one of my apprehension why I have second thoughts on applying abroad. I'm afraid to just land in an illegal recruiter just like what happened to my officemates hubby before. Imagine, it is really hard looking for that amount and pay it to them and suddenly, with just a snap of fingers it was lost. Huhuhu! For sure i will be devastated if it happens to me, who will not if that's the case. But if you don't take a risk nothing will happen in your life in here. So how did you handle it buddy? Did you continue your plans? I wish you goodluck and hope you will make it this time. ^_^. They say in life we really need take a rest so that we can reach that dream of ours.

yes edylyn, in deciding to go abroad you should be firm and be sure that there's no holding back. For sure it will affect your personality and your work when you got there. But actually all that fears and second thoughts are just in the state of mind. It is only difficult at first but when your still adjusting to new environment, new people around you. But as days gone by you will slowly live by it You need to conquer your fears or whatever you have in mind that hinders you to go if you wanna improved your way of living. Let's admit it or not but salaries abroad are much greater as to compared here. :0

Most of the filifino girls and a quite a few men are working in gulf and States. It is better to work abroad for couple of years as long as culture crisis is not there. One can support the famaily with extra income earned there comparatively. After serving for a decade or so, with all the savings come back to home town and start some business or join some big firm, big hosital, big trading company and earn well.

I thought the salaries are only low in Pakistan but people in Phillipines also have the same problem. I don't know why employers do this with people they hire. The profits of them are so high and they want to take work for almost 5 people from one single person and pay the salary so low. I am working on going abroad by taking admission in a University and will be working there as the currency difference in huge.

its one of my dream to go abroad. but going there alone is also hard. u have to pay many fees, go through some process, wait for many months.....its just that, despite our want, there we have our own corrupt officials who make our living more harder than ever. if we wanted to go out, we have to pay big money. so its not that easy. if there are successful filipinos who were able to go abroad to work, it is because, they are rich and can afford the fees, they have relatives and really close friends who can sponsor them and help them find work in the place or THEY ARE LUCKY. =)

Hello eliezl, Absolutely true. There are those people that are really lucky. I guess luck is always on their side. And their are others that are not lucky enough no matter how hard they try to make their dreams possible. But I believe if we work harder and do every possible way just to make that dreams happen i think we can conquer the test of fate.

when I was in college I used to wonder, how come so many people flock to different places outside the country-endure years of being away from their family, just to have luxuries in life. Isn't it just enough to work here? I thought then, as long as I studied hard, I can finish my course, land in a good job and I will be able to be happy working here in the philippines. So i did just that-finished school, had a good job and eventually got married. that's when I started entertaining the idea of living abroad. taking into consideration our (my husband & I) salary, i think I need to work abroad in order to save for the future of my kid. With the increasing prices of commodities here it is so hard to save for future needs.

Mere reason why everybody's what to go abroad is because of financial matter. And it is really obvious that when we try go abroad and work there admit it or not but it surely helps uplift our financial needs and enables us to saved for the future. Good Luckto your plans nicus. Hope you can make it too. Let us crossed our fingers and wished that it will come true. ^_^

In my case, I prefer not to work abroad. For me, working here in the Philippines is okay with me, since my family is here. I cannot afford to be away from my parents and I wanted to be with them as they grow old. And even though the salary rate is much lower compared to working abroad, I still would choose to work here. By the way, my boyfriend is soon to leave our country to work in saudi. Of course, we don't want to be away from each other, but we have no choice since it's the only way for him to earn better, he is also the breadwinner in their family, and he also have plans for our future. I know it's sad, but I'll just look at it's brighter side.

Well, considering the things that are happening here in the Philippines, I'm definitely sure I want to work abroad. I'm not staying there though, just want to reel in the big bucks and go home with enough money to start my own business. There's still no place like home.. :)

I always think of that when I was still in my beloved country, Philippines. i have tried a lot to apply online just to get the opportunity to work abroad! As long as you are tough enough, there is nothing wrong with that and truly if you are hard working , you will really save enough to start a good business or investment! But, you need to evaluate yourself first like, Am i that brave enough to live alone, no relatives, no families, in a strange environment and different culture, when you're answer is YES..go girl!

Everything comes in its own way in order. Before Im so desperate to go abroad I keep on telling myself that I have to work abraod to help my family but its not too easy specially working in the middle east. Culture is really different and no offense there are lots of cases where they abuse pinoys there and am so afraid to work there even if it will give me a huge amount of money. I tried it slowly now my company will be sending me to USA for a training and I also have Atwo years visit pass in singapore and I think I am making most of every country's options to go where.. But still it is true ther is no such place like home or like the philippines coz I believe we pinoys are the nicest people in the world and am very proud of that thats why many foreigner tend to have their retirement here in the Philippines. Because of our beautiful sceneries and hospitable people.

Hi, Working abroad I hope it is the wish of person and effective dicision taking. If one is so confident and sure to get more satisfied abroad definetly he should work abroad. It is mental satisfaction one is be given from his work. If for social development it may change according the job atmosphere prevelent in his own country. So working abroad is according to capability of that person and metal satisfactoin compared to domestic job.
