OH! Is My Face Red! My Dumb Computer Moment

hehehehe hahahahaha you have made my day, pyewacket! This is so great! Way back in the stone ages in 1990, I was trying to access the internet, and I had no luck at all. I called technical support, and we tried everything, but no luck. Finally, the tech person asked me if the phone jack I had plugged in to was working. Phone jack? hehe, I hadn't even plugged it in! I didn't let the tech person know, I just said it must be defective and I'd have to call the phone company. After I hung up the phone, I plugged it in and had no problems.

*giggles* I had one of those moments with mylot, actually. I kept trying to post photos and not finishing the photo process before posting my discussion or response, so of course the photo wouldn't show up at all. It took me several days to finally work up the nerve to ask someone about it, and I still didn't get what I was doing wrong for a while after that. And here I've been using computers since I was a little kid, and used to have my technology teacher in high school let me teach classes for him while he goofed off! What kind of nerd am I?

Oh yes...I have to many to count. How many times I left a diskette in the drive then got a no OS found message!

To be honest I have had the exact same thing happen to me with the volume being shut off somehow, I just never told anyone about it until now! Atleast you got your problem all sorted out my friend. We call those "noob" moments. ;p A few times I've messed up on media players but I don't freak out crazy on them like you did Pye. I just have a mental list and cross things out on it until I find the solution.

well, if you dont count the time i ****ed up my computer's startup settings, causing it to refuse to start up, and making me hire a pc expert to fix it, i guess i dont, really.

That was funny but beleive me you aren't the only one.Can happen and happened to all of us things like this.I'm not blonde too but if you ask my husband or my brother I'm sure they gonna have to say many stories for my *blonde moments*... Sorry for anyone blonde here......

That is ok Pye, I have done the same thing with the volume control on videos like that so dont feel bad. It is funny though. I have my share of blonde moments at time too.

Well, I am a blonde, so I guess that excuses me for all my dumb stuff, computer and otherwise! I still haven't been able to hear you sing on your thing and my computer volume is ok and I turned up the volume on the tape, so I'm really dumb, because I can't figure it out!!!

I've had many moments of "not seeing for looking"... does that count?

I'm trying to remember a blond moment, but none come to mind right now. I'm sure I've had more than a few. I never knew anything till I got a home computer. And I just experimented with everything, and I must say I learned a lot over the past seven years. And everything I learned was on my own. I wish when I was in school we had computers. These days kids know everything about a computer. So I guess I had to learn the hard way.

Oh, occasionally I forget to turn on the screen and wonder why the computer is starting so slowly. Nothing serious. And if my speakers are not working, or the DSL, or one of the external drives--odds are that someone unplugged it while I wasn't looking. Either the wife, or the computer technican of a cat; he crawls under the desk and steps on the switch for the power strip--occasionally while I am working on it. Sure gets my attention fast.

Lol Sweetie I will not count my Blonde Moments at all as you are aware of most of them you have read them But do not worry I have done this before but I actually forgot to switch on the Computer it was after the third reboot I realized why there was no sound

Oh several times a day on a good day! And not just on the computer. I went to town the other day and had to come home the long way to pick up some extra stuff at my local shop. I was so tired. I left a bunch of $50 notes on the bench, while I put my trolley away, then I dropped all the coins out of my wallet. I was just feeling frustrated and said...I'm having a blonde moment and as I spoke I looked and standing next to me was a blonde. I quickly said..."Perhaps I should have said a senior's moment". She was a snooty type and didn't see the amusing side of things.

PMSL Sorry Pye, I know I shouldn't be laughing as I have done equally silly things myself while attempting to be computer literate. The worst, so far, was attempting to attach a picture to an email. After several attempts I was about to give up, until I noticed the little box that said *attach* D'uh

LOL I think everybody has a blonde moment at one point or another in their lives. I have several and I AM a blonde! LOL So I guess that means I have more than the other hair colors but I have a good excuse! LOL

I think that everyone has their "blonde moments" no matter what you are working on whether it be the computer or let's just say,,,, the satellite... I know that your discussion is about dumb computer moments but I just wanted to share my dumb moment with everyone since it does deal with technology. We just had Tivo installed at our house and we have been having problems with our local channels not coming in so I called Directv to see if they could figure out what the problems was. The lady that I talked to was really nice, we went over everything that she could possibly think of and nothing was working. After being on the phone for an hour and a half I was about to give up and just have them send a tech to the house when I noticed that I had the tv on a channel that we don't even get. HMM no wonder I kept getting the little box that says "This channel no purchased" Once I put it on a channel that we actually pay for everything worked fine. (which it was probably working the whole time and I would have known that had I not had a serious blond moment) I felt like a complete idiot,, LOL
