Rude people on the road!

Some of you may recall me mentioning that we now own a little 1981 Ford Mustang. It's a 4 cylinder and pretty tired out. It also had a few problems that made it run really bad at first...it's fixed now thankfully!
I was driving back home the one night and the poor little thing had NO power. And I mean no power as in I could barely get it to go 30mph on the straight stretches! Just imagine what happened when I had to go up a hill! Yeah, it was (not) fun!
So there I was puttering along at about 15mph up a straight incline when this other vehicle zoomed up behind me. It was a passing zone AND I'd put my 4-ways on but they wouldn't just go around me. Instead they just rode right up on my you-know-what. And then I pulled off the road to let them by and they blared their horn at me and yelled something out their window!
I so badly wished I could have chased them down and given them a piece of my mind...or that I'd come across them broken down along the road farther on.
Are you tolerant when you see someone obviously having car troubles or do you just want them to get out of your way? Are you ever rude about it or do you go around them politely?

Thankfully I've never experienced obvious car troubles while driving on the road (other than one instance where the turn signals stopped working; the car went straight to the shop the next day), but I had this problem many a time when I was first learning to drive and had to master all my skills for the on-the-road test so that I could get my license. Things like lane changes and left turns during busy times of day were a real challenge. So many road-hoggers, people who gang up leave enough room for you to make the lane change but then right when you begin to do it, they gang up on you and honk their horn obnoxiously... people who try to "brake test" you, and set you up for all sorts of other kind of crazy stuff. These people are just about the most insensitive I have ever seen to people who - for all they know - could be beginner drivers, or could be having some trouble on the road. I came close to having an emotional meltdown on several occasions.
My nature is usally to be rebellious to the people who have screwed me over. But under these circumstances, I try to be polite and not break any rules with all the cameras and policeman around these days.

I guess I'm lucky in a way to live out here in the country...no major traffic, few police officers and NO cameras. But I can think of plenty of times it would have been nice for the rude ones to get caught...it's just that I know I'm guilty of being rude on occasion too, but usually only after I've been provoked.

I'm rarely angry or rude when driving. Usually I'm letting people out of driveways or not blocking intersections and a lot of other things. There are times though I can get riled and being polite isn't an option. One was the time a full 18 wheeler decided to turn into a non truck road; yours truly had to reverse in the left lane and had to deal with people behind me blaring and screaming. I wanted to smash all their heads in and then drag them to the big NO TRUCKS sign that people dont pay attention to. Another time was when I did get stuck in the intersection, but it was because 2 other cars decided to steal the left turn while on red. Sigh...
Usually I'm the one driving the speed limit and it drives people nuts. Except the ones that nearly cause an accident while going 45-50 MPH instead of the posted 35. But most times people are so me-me-me ish on the road its sick. They'll break any law they can and they don't care if you or even they could possibly get hurt.
I can't talk about driving no more Foxy, its the weekend! I'm trying to relax and think of the general topic for my weekend thread. Sorry about your car, I do hope you get the thing fixed up somehow.

Yep I drive people nuts by being a good driver too. Rude truck drivers REALLY bother me. I have a story similar to yours too. My car is doing much beter now...just several minor things that had it running on BARELY 3 cylinders! Hope your weekend thread goes well for you!

I am polite when I see someone with a car problem. I have been there myself and know it is not fun to deal with anyone being rude over it. Usually they seem to be able to get help these days with cell phones helping there so I try to be understanding.

That's how I think too! When you're already frustrated/annoyed/upset about car problems, the last thing you need is someone being rude.
LOL ellphones are still laughable around here. We still don't have good service here!

There seems to be less and less tolerance on the roads these days hun, and although I do try to be a polite and considerate driver, there are days when other drivers just wind me up. It takes no time at all to be polite and considerate.

You are so right about that! I think that's what bothered me the most. This guy could have very easily just gone around me in the passing zone...there were no other cars on the road. But instead he chose to be blatently rude about my troubles.

We can't stop accidents and bad days. Hence, angels are there to help us. In such case, when I'm not in a hurry, I really give a hand to those who have problems on the road. We can't help it. There are really many rude guys around us. But if someone needs our help, let's reach out to them. And help them with open arms. Lets be an angel to others.

that is shocking. they have no right doing that. i am sure they could of seen you were having car trouble. I would never do such a thing. i would wait till it was safe to overtake and go by. i wish they had broken down further on, i would of gone past laughing at them. i hope you get your car sorted out soon.
best wishes and take care

Hey kayrod! That was what really made me mad about the whole thing. They followed right on my bumper the whole way up a passing zone but wouldn't pass me but then blared the horn when I pulled off (and gave up what little momentum I had to get up the next hill). I don't wish ill on people too often but I sure was that night!

I get very angry with rude People and it is getting worse on the Roads to they do not take notice they just seem to be in a rush and just do not care
I am not rude no I will have patients that is including when I am behind a Learner Driver to and I will always keep my Distance even more from them so that I do not make the Person nervous
If someone has broken down I will politely go round them as it is not their Fault
