Do you prefer to use cookbooks or are you like me and just like to start mixing things and seeing what you get?I do use a cookbook when I first learn a recipe, then after that...nope I do it on my own.

My wife uses the cook book and they are of great help particularly in expressing quantities and measurements. As you said once or twice referring to the book for a particular dish is more than sufficient and after that it is trail and error. Of course I am there as her husband to take the risk of eating!! and commenting too, even if is it awfully bad, I had to say it is quite good.

I used to use cookbooks for cooking some food that I wanted to learn very much at the initial stage of learning how to cook, but not now. As I think that it is not that difficult to cook food as in most cases it is almost the same. I always cook some simple food for myself if I have time to cook.

You are welcome, but how are you, my dear friend? I have not been able to see you around for a long time. I hope that you are doing well with your life and work.

I like to look at cookbooks for ideas but I always change the recipe in some way to my taste, to make it healthier, or to substitute ingredients that I have on hand.

I prefer to go by cookbook sometime when I really enjoy the things written over there. I love to cook and try to experient with it. Sometimes if I have tasted a dish somewhere, I can assume the ingredients mostly and ry out at home without any cook book.

I love tp buy cookbooks and read through them, but I rarely use them for cooking. If I am trying something new I follow the recipe. After that I tweek them to our tastes.

I used to just experiment with different ingredients to see what would happen and had a 50/50 chance of it actually being edible..so now, I stick to things like cookbooks to make sure I am not doing the wrong things in the kitchen...

I use my cookbooks to get idea and maybe the first or second time making it. Then I go by memory. I can come up with a different one every time that I make something. I have over 150 cookbooks and it is still suprising to me, that I cannot find something to make, sometimes. LOL

I like to see cookbooks, but only when I do not know the recipe... I have my own cooknotebook, so I write down my own favorite recipes... But also I like to make my own mixes... I try to imporve the original recipes, adding my personal touch!

I think looking at cookery books can give you ideas and then you can adapt them at a later date. I am always doing this after awhile I tend to try adding things to see what happens
