I was about 20 minutes late, so now I am going to have to attend it again next month. That should be pretty interesting if I have my surgery before then. LOL The only part I missed was about what the doctor requires in the way of attempted weight loss before surgery. The rest of it revolved around the surgery itself, the complications that can arise, and then the plastic surgeon came in and spoke. Insurance covers some of the cosmetic surgery if it's a particular type. Otherwise it's really expensive. I told hubby that we would have at least two years to save up for it. LOL So now I'm waiting for my consultation on Friday. I'll post more then, as to when my surgery might be and all of that good stuff. Hugs to all.

If you really need the surgery like its diminishing your quality of life or its life threatening maybe you can make that case to your insurance provider. Otherwise keep in good health until you are ready for the surgery.

The whole reason I'm having the surgery is not just for weight loss, but also to get the weight off quickly to reduce the pressure on my hip joints and lower back. The quality of my life has most definitely diminished over the last few years because of pain, so I think this surgery will be a big help in getting my life back. I've been ready for the last three years. Thanks so much hon.

I hope you don't have to wait two years to get the surgery you need.

It gets me that something that is designed to save your life is considered 'cosmetic'! If it was only for vanity's sake, sure... but when the purpose is to bring your entire body back to healthier condition, they need another name. How about rebirth surgery? Second chance surgery? Keep-on-living surgery? LOL?
