Friends, looking at the condition of so many old people around us, are you afraid of your old age. Chidhood and Youth passes away so soon that we hardly realise it, but oldage is longest part of your life which goes very slowly and if your health is not good then even more painful. A feeling that you are someone unwanted, useless person, a burden for others.....How do you feel about this.......

No, I am not afraid of old age.. This time comes in everybody's lives, so there's nothing we can do to stop it from coming in our lives.. We shud just concentrate on doing good thruout our lives, and who knows sm1 does good for us when we get old.. We shud forever respect the elderly people, only then u wud be respected when u get into that age...

Hi Friend.......I just checked the frequently asked question of mylot and this is what mylot rules say....... Can I change my username? myLot does not allow users to change their usernames. Please be sure when you create your account that the username you pick is one that you want. Be careful not to make your username similar to your email address or password for security reasons. So I think now you will always have to be lifeless....:)), but don't worry, the picture in your avatar shows how full of life you are.......so be happy.

Dear apsara, It's indeed scary to think it that way. Loved ones might not be there and we might not keep good of health at that period in time, we could get sick, frail or obese, jittery, paranoid, complaining, all of which, I am sure ppl around would not like. No one would have time and more scary, the inclination to take care of the 'burden'. That was a grim picture of oldage. But, why think it that way. there are so many ways to elevate our spirit. Why not involve ourselves with NGOs and voluntary organisation that work wonders. Why not take a very good care of our health now and fight out the old age trauma. Why not smile away our sadness and shrug off our oddities? Apsara, no one is useless until he/ she thinks it that way. We have enormous potential, just we need to whet it from time to time. Do not let your self esteem die down. Remember, YOU ARE THE BEST and believe in it. And we are there for each other, to fight out our sorrows. Love and huggles. PS: Looking foward to your poetry piece. pls do not dishearten your sis.

Apsara, That is really scary and grim. I have shivers on reading through this. Truly, we never know what TIME going to put before us. I do not know what fate awaits us. All I know is that you are a brave lady, who have beem surviving and would survive all oddities in life. Share your thoughts with good friends and let it out. Your sis mimpi.

A little scared of course. But that is not going to help in anyway. So the best thing is to retain a good health and loads of money till your last days. With plenty of money the chances of becoming a unwanted, useless person is very less.lol

You are right upto some extent that old age is that part of life which appears the most difficult one to pass. But getting afraid or feeling afraid from old age does not help. Everyone has to reach that stage and we need to look forward it, instead of acculating apprhensions about that phase of life. I do not know what is going to happen tomorrow, but I believe that whatever happens would happen for good. If I am good to others hopefully others would reciprocate and If I make good planning (including financial planning) for my old age, I think I would be able to live that phase of my life happily. Let's us wait and watch and look forward to that phase, we have passed our life nicely so far, hopefully it will be same in the coming years.

Well, I may not live that long, so I'm trying to take life as is. However, it IS frustrating and sad to see my Dad having trouble dealing with his old age. He's just recently retired and has been having a hard time accepting it 'coz he's been a bread winner all throughout his life. Even when he was young, he helped support his Mom along with his sisters and brothers. I think what's important is being able to accept any season of life. It IS easier said than done, but if we have that ability (with God's help), we shouldn't fear any season of life.

Dear Ailema4ever..........may you live long and happy life and so don't say that you may not live so long.Yes I agree it is very difficult for someone who has been working whole life to sit and do nothing or not allowed to live like he always lived. The best thing is to keep ourseleves busy and active.........but as you said if only God will bless oldage with good health, things will be better. Thanks for your reply.

hello!life passes through three stages.childhood, youth and then comes old age.of these, childhood is the best period when the child gets lessons on sitting, creeping, walking, running, manners etc.and after 3/4 years goes to schools to gather knowledge for his youth period. this youth period is most important when he faces lots of challenges for his livelihood and gathers money and of course much experience for utilising in his old age.from this point of view one need not fear for old age.as we r experienced and matured enough,i think, instead of being afraid we should face the challenges of old age as we had got read of varieties challenges in our past life.there is no reason to be afraid of.if childhood is not unwanted, youth is not unwanted, why old age.in this earth, which is a stage,we should play our roles successfully.old people r not burden to any body or to the society or to the nation.so why fear.

Of course, I'm a bit anxious about old age...I'm now 50 years old, and is not really in the best of health...I have jokingly told my daughter to get a nurse for me when necessary during my old age; both me and my husband...of course that's only a joke, but there's a ring of truth in it. All of us go through old age, and always, there are difficulties associated with it, especially when the health fails. As of now, I'm preparing for it--emotionally and financially. Hopefully, we all grow old graciously, and without burdening much our loved ones. When the time comes, I hope we'd be financially capable to support for our medicines and other expenses associated with old age...

Dear Psyche49f.....when you said nurse for me and my husband, something very sad came into my mind. Don't you think Husbands suffer more in oldage specially if they have already lost their life partner. We women can cook and look after ourselves,.....but poor men, who are so much dependent on wives.....how hard it must be for them if nobody will look after them......this all thing makes me very sad. I think husband and wife in old age should die together.......do you agree.........

I want to grow old to see my kids have their own lives and settle down. But how I wish when I reach that age I am still sharp, healthy and with good passive income. I just don't want to be a burden to my love ones. But i still wanted to have a use even I am no longer that young.

Do you want to know a secret.......we think life ends at 40, but the truth is that life begins at 40, till 40 you are doing things only for others....it is only at 40 that you suddenly realise that you did nothing for yourself in these 40 years.....and you feel a new energy inside you to live your life....you may not belive this.....but when you will reach 40.....you will remember my words.......so cheer up and be happy.

I don't really fear old age, what I'm afraid of are the sickness that comes with, the feeling that you could have accomplished more when you are young. But then again as you grow older, you become wiser and more experienced about life and you will know what things need time and energy and things you can live without.

yes my friend, sickness, weakness, memory loss, depending on others....all this is what makes oldage scary, I don't think any body cares how wiser you are if you cannot take care of yourself. Let's pray to God that we could remain independent till the last breath of our life. May God give strength to all old people.

I am afraid of old age.As the age increase,I feel more and more pleasure not only from my family but also my study and health.Usually I feel time is not enough and I Feel an unprecedent urgency.I know my attitude is not active,i usually think about much more.I think if I am old and become a burden for others,I Will try my best to care for myself, otherwise,I will go to nursingroom.I will not bring any inconvenience.

Lacurandera, what made you think that you should not have children. Today this is a question that really should be given some thought. I have two children, I am so much worried about them all the time. Once we have children, we can never live in peace because we love them so much and whole life we are worried and protective..........are you happy with you decision. I am confused.....do write more about your this decision. Thanks

Hi Apsara. Well, I imagine that sometimes too in fact. Haha. And each time I see people suffering during their oldage, I will kind of telling myself, maybe I just don't want to live until so old. Haha. However, I feel friends will always help us overcome all these. Maybe we have to try to keep ourselves as healthy as possible when we grow old, I mean we have to take care of our health very very well from now onward, so that at least I can't help others we don't need to burden others. Anyway, my granddad is 83 years old this years and he is still healthy and happy! He used to ride his bike here and there when he is bored. What am I trying to say here is that there are still people with elder age can live without burdening others. So, guess you will be someone like that when you grew old.
