do you have a relative, or a parent, or a brother or sister that is an oversea filipino worker?these workers are risking high to work abroad and are sacrificing not being with their family just to earn much more in the country they are working. my dad works abroad, but he goes home every six months. some workers go home once every two years now that is really missing home. I know the pain my dad is suffering once he see us being distant from him. lots and lots of filipinos are going out of the country to work abroad. and lots of these individuals are working hard there. well do not forget to send a note to your love ones abroad. let them know how much you appreciate their sacrifice.

i salute the overseas workers, especially the Filipino overseas workers....our present day heroes. i have relatives abroad myself, i understand the sacrifices, we being closely-knit families, to leave home for years and not to see loved ones on a day-to-day basis is painful to the heart. but, we have to face realities. the consolation we can give to our families abroad is us to work towards improving our lives. we help each other grow. and never forget to thank them everyday. a little note always pumps their spirits. great days ahead, perry

anytime, i enjoy this discussion with you too. i must tell you that i a true-blooded Filipino, i love our country so much....and i hope to see the rise of a great nation in our lifetime. great not only in terms of material wealth, but of the Filipino spirit reaching greater heights, dignified and respected among the citizens of the world. we can achieve all this, all of us contributing no matter how small the task may be. thanks again, perry

My husband works abroad. He sacrifices a lot not only for me and our children but also for his extended family. He was still a bachelor when he started working abroad to earn a living. He never stops until now because he wanted to make everything stable first before he retire and works locally.

I have a brother who is working as a bartender in a cruise line here in the US. I also have some cousins and close friends who are working in Taiwan and Dubai. I know it wasn't easy for them to be away from their families. It was surely a pain in the butt. My brother goes home and visit his family once in a year. Since my parents have only 2 kids (me & my older bro), so they said it feels like that they are also working abroad because we aren't there. There's a lil advantage on my part since my husband is here with me.

you have a little leverage to your brother since you are living there with your husband. it is truly a pain in their butt and they would really suffer when they are working abroad.

yes, i do have a relatives abroad. one of them is the eldest brother of my dad who is in usa. we here are really thankful to him because he was able to help us financially most of the time. he has his own family there but he still managed to visit us here when his schedule is not so hectic. he also does phone calls not only when there's occasion. of course, we misses his presence. i remember those days when he would arrive here in the philippines and have bonding with us, his nieces and nephews, he would treat us out and give some dollars. ^_^ another one is my godfather, my dad's bestfriend who is in canada. despite the distance, we managed to communicate most of the time here in the internet by exchanging e-mails. i always see to it that i get them updated with the happenings here. hmm.. the latest.. my boyfriend is soon to leave the philippines, he'll be working in saudi arabia. it's sad because we'll be far from each other, but we have no choice because it's the only way for him to ear money faster, since he is his family's breadwinner, and he already had have plans for our future. all we do now, is cherish our moments together, and make the best out of the limited time we have.

Know what? Sometimes I feel like I'm the one who's overseas.. Hehehe.. Lemme explain... We are 5 in the family, my mom, my dad, an older sister and a younger brother plus me. Now, my dad is already gone so that leaves four, but all of 'em. My mom, my sis and bro are all in Canada and I'm the only one left here in Pinas, though I have my own family here. Sometimes I feel like I'm the one who left since the three of them are all together abroad. See what I mean now? But you are right, they are there out of their comfort zones. Their friends are here, and other family members (cuz'ns, and that sort) and since all of us grew up here there is a certain form of uprootment (if that's a word) everytime someone leaves their own country, even though the whole family moves. It's hard to be far away from people you love but most people see it as a sacrifice worth it since it's for the family's future

hehehe. I think you are the one who is really overseas. hehehe. yeah it is hard. but if your family could go with you I think it is worth the sacrifice. but there are some workers abroad who could not take their family with them, those are the workers doing the most sacrifice.
