English is an international link language and spoken and understaood widely all over the world. Knowing this importance, your country must have introduced this compulsory education in English. It is good. In India, parents admit the children to kindergarten schools only if they are teaching in english. Local languages have no say particularly in urban areas and cities. In villages, of course it is the local language that dominates.
We are learnt English, because it is part of our curriculum. Secondly, we knew the importance of knowing the language to work in private firms. Also to learn computers, letter writing skills, all these require knowledge of English. Those who are doing scientific research, to read international publications, to participate in international conferences, to meet foreigners, one should know the knowledge of english.

ever since i started entering school, our curriculum is taught primarily in english. it is mandatory based on the department of education so we really need to learn it. afterall, it is of much advantage if you can speak english fluently if you're from a non-english speaking origin.

Since our elementary days, english has been one of our subjects. it is a need to learn it because it is after all the international language and we need to know that in order for us to be able to communicate with other people in the whole wide world. ^__^ and just like any other subjects, we can't afford to fail in English. we wouldn't be able to move on if we have always have a back subject. ^__^

Here in our country, from the beginning a child enters school, he or she is taught English. English is most commonly used by schools. So even before a student reaches college, he or she knows how to speak English already. I was raised in an English-speaking family. My father spoke English to all of us 9 children from the time we were born. It was a rule in the house that everyone speaks English. We actually learned to speak Filipino when we began going to school, as everyone around us was speaking Filipino, and English was only being used inside the classroom.

I was pretty loose about English, never really thought about it until I got into college. Luckily, I've played many English-based video games and somehow I remembered most of the easy words. The English test in my country wasn't that great but still many didn't make it.
No particular reason for me to learn English, my teachers taught me the basics, and I continued it up till now. I'm just glad I was quite interested to this language because learning a new language at my age right now would prove to be quite troublesome, just like what happens with me studying Japanese these days.
