My son has his first grade school pics scheduled for tomorrow and i was just going over the price chart and i can not believe how expensive they are, the smallest package which only entitles me to some wallets and a 3x5 is $20. i usually take our kids to our local retail stores photo center where a HUGE packages is 4.88 and that gives me enough to hand out and then some, but at the same time i want to mark the milestones of school so despite how expensive they are i will buy the cheapest package and then still go to our local retial store because with the school pics i dont get to see what they look like ahead of time so i may not be to pleaed with them. how about you do you purchase school pictures are they as riduculously priced as well???

I agree the prices are crazy ! Go to Walmart they are so much cheaper and you will get alot more pictures and better pictures to add. If everyone stopped buying the school pictures they would lower the prices ! LOL !

I got the smallest package for my son's pictures and it was $13. I only got a few pictures for that. I am glad though. The pictures did not turn out good, so I did not waste a bunch of money.

Thats the thing, you arent there to see how the pics are going and yes they allow you a retake but once again your not there .that why i get the cheapest package just in case!

When we had to buy school pictures, we bought the first kind plus 8 x 10s and not only that we had to do double because we had twins. The relatives had to have one, and we had to give the 8 x10s to the in-laws and keep the 3 x 5s for ourselves. So it round up costing us quite a bit of money as well. I like the old days when they took the picture of the whole classroom and gave one copy to each family for free. That was better.

I agree, the prices are way too high! Since you obviously have a computer...lol...have you ever thought of making your own copies? I do that with my grandkids' pictures and they come out pretty good. Just get the photo print paper and you can copy off whatever size you want. I'm sure the schools are making a pretty nice profit and that just doesn't seem right. Everyone should get together and simply boycot them. Annie

Hi princessmom, I know quite a few moms with this problem. What they have done is not gotten them from the school and taken the kids to Walmart. Then that way for what they would have paid for the pic of just the child at school they can get a solo and a family portrait from Walmart. Last year the hubby and I went to Walmart to get Christmas pics done with our now 16 month old. Our family all live far away so that way they can see how much she has changed. PurpleTeddyBear.

No I do not! I'm wondering why these pictures are so expensive. Used to be the film was expensive but everything is digital now. Its got to be a racket, and I won't buy into a racket. If you can get them cheaper, for God's sake do it, but don't forget to notify the school and explain your reason for boycotting the school pictures. If enough parents do this, the pictures will be cheaper next year.

At our schools, we got to see the pictures: our parents got to see several different shots and pick the one they wanted, then order a package.

When my son was little we used to have the obligatory school pictures every year. The cost was ridiculous and we couldn't afford to pay out for the full package. Every year we took the cheapest basic package, and I look back on those pictures and enjoy them. My son is 22 years old now :-)

We just got ours in and I have three children (no deals or family rate) GRR To get what I need which is one 5*7 two large wallets and 8 wallets will be 16 per children for a grand totally of $48 I will be dishing out. I find it very expensive and the pictures aren't even that great. The reason I don't go to Walmart to gt the mega package is that I want three individuals and the special is one pose even though there are three children. I use the school pictures to do up their schoolday treasure books and have individual shots on the wall. But man, I am so sick of the cost. Also I won't get the darn things until a week before x-mas which drives me nuts. They only gave me a couple days to come up with the money but they will take forever to send them. I think I will have to paint my walls so that I can start doing them on my own cause this is awful!
