When answering a discussion, do you look to see how long ago it was posted?

Hi Ambie, lol I mostly notice once I have hit submit and its on the add tags page. lol Its too late then!!
I wouldnt mind if my post got commented on 6 months down the road or more. If I have something to say on the subject, then I will more and likely post a comment no matter what. :)

My discussion that won't die is 7 months old and has over 100 responses. I have all the answers on that one I need, LOL. Sometimes people post and ask us to go back their old discussions, and that is fun when it only had like one response. It really starts to heat up on the discussions list.

Oh well yea, that aside, I mean if its a particular question or dilema then no I probably wouldnt, but if its just a general discussion thats not asking for help or solutions.
Yeah I can see your point, if you have that many comments then Im sure you have an answer by now, or it has been solved since then. lol Funny

Yes, I do check a discussion on how long it has been posted. For one, because responding to a discussion that has been posted for a long time may be irrelevant now. Two, because my memory is not that sharp, there is a chance that I have already responded to the same discussion. So before answering a discussion, I really check to see how long it has been posted.

That's why I mark all my discussions that I post to with a "+". That way it is rated and I know that I have already responded to that discussion, because there is no way that I could keep up with it otherwise, trying to recall from memory.

Yes I do check to see how old a discussion is. I also check to see if that person comments on their discussions and when they were last here. I like to get feed back and if the person starting a discussion hasn't been on for a few weeks I know i won't get any feed back. Those I tend to not respond to.

nope, i dont look at the date. i just browse discussions and then i answer what i feel like answering or those where i think my opinion counts. for me it doesnt matter how long it has been posted. what matters is that, the one who posted the discussions was able to read my response.

The only problem is that sometimes a response someone replies with is not relevant anymore. That's why I try to check the date because I've posted something thinking I could help a situation, but then I saw the date and it well past any time I could be of help.

I do tend to look. I find it far less useful to respond to a discussion if it was started months ago. Usually it has been resolved by then, & the person who initiated it is not so interested in replying. Also, the discussion may have been a particular query, which may have a;lready been solved.

I do most of the time, but sometimes I forget to look, and I find that the discussion is months old. Sometimes if I notice an old discussion that I would have replied to, and it already has a lot of responses, I won't bother to reply because I don't feel I can add anything new.

yes sometimes it affects the way i respond or if i will respond at all. sometimes i see very good topic with very good respondents to it but when im about to respond to it the date to makes me hesitant to reply. sometimes i do reply to that topic sometimes i just dont because i feel the one who made the topic will even care to read it or just ignore it and just keep busy with more fresher topics he had created.

Nope, i don't see how long it is posted already. but i am more of the topic that caught my interest and I can share my opinion better. It is not the time i am after but to the though-provoking topic which squezzes ideas out of my mind.

I am new here,I had never looked to see how long ago it was when I answering a discussion,if I like this discussion,I will answer it,no matter how old it was, because I know my answer would be seen sooner or later.

Every time.If there is something to say,i see how long ago it was posted. If it is a normal question and started few months ago,i am sure i dont answer. But if it is informative, asking for help,i try to answer it in my view after reading responses .It doesnt matter if it has a lot of responses or few....

I do look at the dates when it was posted before. However, as I see that their has been less and less of sensible discussions here in myLot to respond to, I now consider answering discussions posted at a later but with good topic. I hope the person who started that discussion still reads it. My number criteria for answering discussions here in myLot is it must be sensible and deserves my time.

I don't regularly check when it was posted but there are times that I became curious and checked it. So far, the oldest post that I ever responded was 8 months ago. I responded to it yesterday, I wasn't aware at first of how old it is already but it doesn't really matter to me as long as I know I have an answer to it.

It doesn't matter to me if the discussion is a week old or had a lot of responses as long as i like the topic and i feel like responding. i really love topics which are educational. :-)
