Well, since I am Chinese educated, so nothing too surprise where my English will be "weird" and "funny". I remember once my English was judged as "DAMN LOUSY" due to the report which written by me. I mean it's not the main point. What am I trying to discuss here is that, why do we actually have to grade our English level from time to time? I mean, even if my English level is Distinction, doesn't mean that I will get the same for my other subject. Well, I have a lot of friends who are English educated, they never receive any compliment as well. So, what is the purpose for others to actually grade our English standard? I mean I know English is playing a very important role in our today's communication. However, if English is meant for communication, then as long as the communication able to be established, then people still mind a lot about the grade? What do you think about this? Is it very important to grade your English standard? Why yes and why not?

...Your English is better than half the people who grew up in America! You captialize and use punctuation better than many people who speak English as a first language. ...Ultimately, a grade is irrelavant. It is just a tool used to measure your level of understanding. It may or may not reflect accurately. ...Once, I got a 2.0 in a class I refused to do a project in. It was lame and served no purpose, plus I just didn't have the money to waste on it. I wrote a paper describing what my project would look like, how much each item would cost and how I would construct it. The teacher did not accept it. It didn't matter that I got a 3.8 on the final exam. ...So was the grade an accurate reflection of my understanding of the subject taught? No. Did I understand the subject matter? Yes. Today, is the grade relevant? No. ...As long as you are able to communicate your feelings and knowledge, what does a grade matter? Is there room for improvement? Everyone can say yes to this! My point is as long as you are willing to learn and improve the grade you once had is irrelevant. ...Peace be with you. =(^;^)= Della
