we just had an early visitor this morning. and I offered him coffee and he gladly accepted it. I think the drinks preferred by visitors depend on their age. like, old people prefer coffee or tea while young people prefer juice drinks or sodas. I think there are only a few that differs with this general idea. and also, of course, preferred drinks vary according to the weather right?? young people might prefer coffee during cold days or hot tea. so what do you think?

I usually offer tea or coffee but also have a selection of cool soft drinks too. Most of my friends are coffee or tea drinkers though.

If someone drops by I give them whatever I have to drink. If they are not happy with that, they can bring their own! I don't have the money to buy things for everyone else!

I offer coffee as well.. If I have to make it fresh I will, I think a juice for a younger child is ok or Kool aid is ok as well.. Normally the child will say what they want and I would give it to them, Most of the time it's milk though...

Well, i usually ask them to choose from the available beverage/drink that i have... like coffee, ice tea, tea, soda, or water... older people like my in-laws would always prefer coffe... young ones like my neices and nephews would choose soda... and the health conscious ones would always choose water or tea... As for me if i am a visitor to a house... i would alway prefer to be offered a glass of ice tea or a can of soda...

Since one of our main purposes in having moved to a resort town upon retirement was to avoid having to entertain guests in our home, we very seldom serve beverages. We prefer to take visitors to entertaining restaurants or other local establishment in the business of serving interesting drinks. That way all the people can order whatever they want, and I don't have to keep an assortment of drinks on hand "just in case."

I usually offer a tea first because most adults around here drink tea. Then coffee. I think your right though for younger ones I would offer a soda. But I am actually seeing more and more people just ask for some water. Could be that I make really bad coffee or they see my fancy water filter and want to check it out. HEHE Vicki

for me water is still the universal drink especially these days wherein people are getting conscious with their health. way back home, it's always water. in most conferences that i've attended, water is always there, ready to be served. :-)

I usually offer visitors green tea at home. Green tea is a kind of common drinks for visitors here. And offering green tea means you are polite. But some young people here, like me, we just request water when hosts ask us what kind of drinks we'd like. So I also offer water in this situation. I have to say coffee means modern here. But we seldom offer coffee to visitors here, because it's not popular here. How strange!

Old people, lol, like to drink other things too. Like diet soda, or juice, or hot chocolate. I like just about anything to drink. I just like to have a drink of something in front of me, always. Usually it's water, but quite often water just doesn't cut it. I am one of these old people you are talking about.
