No not on my boyfriend... LOL But I cheated and didn't make my pumpkin pie this thanksgiving from scratch.
Usually I make one from scratch every year but this year I was given a can of pumpkin pie filling. Okay I'll use that, but I also took it a step further and used a store bought crust and a tub of cool whip. It was amazing and everyone gobbled it up saying it was the best one I ever made. Jeepers thank you so much? Have you cheated when cooking? Have you passed it off as your "own"?

Hi Vicki,
I often cheat if I don't have the proper ingredients, run out of time, etc. On Thanksgiving I always cheat though when it comes to pumpkin pie and we buy one every year. I leave it in the box though, and I don't try to pass it off as "my own". If I'm gutsy enough to cheat, I should be gutsy enough to admit it lol. That is how I see it anyhow!

HEHEHE I will probably have to admit it, because we have tons of real pumpkins here and the kids asked for me to make more after Halloween is over. Jeepers my cheat will become exposed soon enough. Thanks PurpleTeddyBear

I dont do scratch LOL it would probably be the nastiest thing I had ever cooked if I did lord help the people that eat it. I will stick to what i do best. I really glad you family liked your pie but i bet that didn't make you feel good knowing you worked hard making one from scratch and they like the faster one better :) I wouldn't know where to start making one

LOL I have to laugh cause I understand. I left home at 16 and didn't know anything about cooking or baking. Once I moved out here in the sticks, I couldn't easily pick up store bought things and there isn't any delivery so I had to learn how to do it myself. I had my share of "OH MY GOODNESS, THIS IS AWEFUL!!" People gagging and chewed nasties flying across the room.

I have made a *from scratch* pumpkin pie once in my lifetime. I royally screwed it up, but fixed it before it got baked. Since then, I used the canned pie filling. I think it makes a better pie. I do not make my own crust because I really mess them up. They either turn out too hard and crunchy or soft and soggy. So...I buy them premade now.

I did find it a lot easier to basically slap it together rather than totally scratch. Thanks sherrir101

Sometimes cheating gives you immense pleasure. You know what you are doing is wrong but the fun behind doing it does not allow you to think over it and you just do it.

It is yummy and a lot easier than using real pumpkin. I usually use the real pumpkin cause my boyfriend's sister grows them and I get tons in the fall free. I do like making other baked goods out of it too, but I may have to check out canned pie filling again, that was good!
