of late ,there are many things they made me feel very worried.one of my hubby's colleague faint down suddenly in the early morning.and later be diagnosed with low blood pressure and convulsion of blood vessel of brain.today i found one of my friends was also diagnosed with the same disease.i found they have much in common.both of them work very hard,so-called workaholic under great pressure, but at the same time neglect the necessary exercise.they all put work in the very first place.but i think of course work is very important,we should work hard at it ,but it should have a limit that is we should do it within the endureness of our body.besides,we should pay much attention to our body.i think only when we have a strong body can we continue to work well.after body is the base of all.do you agree with me ?

Hello downaalice! Yes, I absolutely agree on you. We have to take care of ourselves. Being workaholic is good because it pays back from what you have worked, but we should also consider our health. We have to take a rest, so that our body will regain energy for tomorrow's activities.
Have a nice day and God speed!

Maybe our boss will not agree. I do want to pay more attention to my body because I want live at least 80 years. I do want to do exercise regularly.Go swiming at least once a week,go to gymnasium once a week. The reality is that if I'm lucky I can go swimming once a week. About gymnasium, forget about it. Because my boss forces us to overwork everynight, even in weekend. May how to deal with our boss to get a better working situation is what need to think about now.

really many boss only have an eye for money regardless of the workers' working condition.since the boss always force us to overwork instead of caring about our health.we should make use of every bit of time and space to take exercise.after all, our body belongs to ourselves only.

No I think family and health should come first. As for income, I prefer working smart over working hard. It's really pointless to kill yourself working to earn a fat paycheck, only to blow it all away. We should work to live, not live to work.

I think you need to have a healthy balance of work and play. Too much work will run you down and your health will be in trouble. Too much relaxation and you become lazy and to get going would be hard. Somewhere in the middle is probably best for most people. Vicki

I supportively agree with you, that is why world has classified standard working hours for an employee is 8 hours per day. And the maximum productive hours from that period is only 4 hours. Workaholic means full concentration on working ethics in 8 hours.
But for work hard, it is a combination of workaholic and work smart. Physical and mental play at equilibrium level in work hard. Regarding physical exercise, it only need 20 minutes in a day. Not much but must in consistent manner. So the easiest way is to practice 'walking medicine' for physical exercise.

I'm sorry to hear about your hubby's colleague! I think as Americans we do work too hard. I studied music in Europe and I noticed in Germany and Austria their businesses shut down at 5 pm. They have high family values and put a strong emphasis on family building. I noticed even the grocery stores stop at 5. Could you imagine Walmart and the like doing the same thing??? I couldn't. We're so used to having businesses at our fingertips. I also noticed that the Germans and Austrians are healthier and happier. They are a hardworking people but know when to leave the business at work. Here, we do not do that as a society. My sister goes to work from 8-8 literally and has to call her boss for conference after she gets off work and they talk for an hour. by the time she 'eats', because by then she doesn't have an appetite, she's exhausted and ready for bed, only to get up the next day to do it again. She's trying to find another job, but i think that's indicative of the American way of life. Not all jobs are like that, but I think generally we work to much.

i appreciate the way the Europeans work and rest.as is known to all , all work and no play makes jack a dull boy.but we are always forced to work extra hours by the bosses or the leaders who are greedy to gain more profits or interests of their own, regardless of the feeling of their employees completely.they are very selish, and hard.

I'm not sure I clearly understand.
From what I've always known a "Workaholic" is someone who works 24/7. Someone who would rather be at work than home with family. Someone who works rather than sleeping. Someone who works weekends. Someone who works overtime. Someone who stops everything and anything else to work instead of whatever else they were doing.
Someone who works under great pressure is just someone who has a tough job that requires a lot of pressure.
Someone who neglects necessary excercise is someone who is either lazy or doesn't like to excercise.
So I'm not sure what your topic question of "should we be workaholic" has to do with your discussion of having medical problems because they work and they neglect themselves. They're not the same at all to me.

hi fren.. i totally agree with u.. We need a healthy and strong body b4 we can work.. Workaholics tend to forget that money can never be earned enough and once they keep falling sick, taking mc, the boss might sack them instead no matter how hard they work, rite?? For a healthy mind and body, both exercises and relaxation are equally important.. So maybe wat u can advise ur fren is, relax.. once they can do that, they will get well over time ;)

workaholic? not good for your healthy. your body can be so tired to grab any job or work you want to grab it. your body need to rest sometimes.
robot's need a rest too. what about human body? cannot work 24 hours a day. waste of time if you cannot work anymore. imagine that's if u in a bad at hospital and cannot go anyway without any job to do. if you like situation like that, it's up to you to think about that's.
