This is all I can say:
Went to a Party Mom- Author Unknown
I went to a party,
And remembered what you said.
You told me not to drink, Mom
So I had a sprite instead.
I felt proud of myself,
The way you said I would,
That I didn't drink and drive,
Though some friends said I should.
I made a healthy choice,
And your advice to me was right,
The party finally ended,
And the kids drove out of sight.
I got into my car,
Sure to get home in one piece,
I never knew what was coming, Mom
Something I expected least.
Now I'm lying on the pavement,
And I hear the policeman say,
The kid that caused this wreck was drunk,
Mom, his voice seems far away.
My own blood's all around me,
As I try hard not to cry.
I can hear the paramedic say,
This girl is going to die.
I'm sure the guy had no idea,
While he was flying high,
Because he chose to drink and drive,
Now I would have to die.
So why do people do it, Mom
Knowing that it ruins lives?
And now the pain is cutting me,
Like a hundred stabbing knives.
Tell sister not to be afraid, Mom
Tell daddy to be brave,
And when I go to heaven,
Put " Mommy 's Girl" on my grave.
Someone should have taught him,
That it's wrong to drink and drive.
Maybe if his parents had,
I'd still be alive.
My breath is getting shorter,
Mom I'm getting really scared.
These are my final moments,
And I'm so unprepared.
I wish that you could hold me Mom,
As I lie here and die.
I wish that I could say,
"I love you, Mom!"
So I love you and good-bye.
I hope Every teenager, or adult who thinks its cool to drink and drive reads this poem...
I had a uncle killed by drunk driving in 1989, he was 19 I know how it feels to lose some this way and its awful...

Personally I think that high school students "shouldn't" drive at all. Just my opinion of course. Get a bike, ride the bus, take the subway, and of course, your legs were made for walkin'! Too many teens get into trouble drinking and driving. They are not responsible enough to get behind the wheel half the time, especially if they are partyin' and then getting behind the wheel. Granted though, it is not just teens that drink and drive. Adults need to learn to drink responsibly as well.

here in canada the driving age was 16, but when my cousin went to get his permit they told him he needed photo ID he was 20 but the needed proof he was over 19...
the changed the Law here you have to be 18 to vote but 19, to smoke, drink and now drive I think its a good Idea 16 year olds shouldn't be driving they haven't grown up

No I think they mean the driving age should be 18. Instead of being able to get a permit and license at 15, 16 or 17 they should have to wait til they are 18 years old. Usually the age when a person graduates and moves away from home.

I just find ot sad that those kids that are drinking and driving aren't listening to their parents...or if they don't have them, anybody who would tell them not to for their own good..people are so wreckless these days..

Part of the drinking and driving problem is the law system in Canada anyway.
I know a guy who has been caught drinking and driving at least twenty times, had a wack of DWI's, Also had his License taken away.
Saterday night he was again caught drinking and driving, with a suspended Licsense.
The put him in the drunk tank for the night, the next day they took the car, but let him walk free....
Come on he was driving drunk, and on a suspended License, however if one of us were to drive sober with no license we would get a charge for sure...whats up with that?

its awful... i did, and i;m just so greatful that i never hurt anybody... or myself... my friends mom was killed by a drunk driving teen while on her way to work... it's just so sad that teens, and adults alike, are more concerned with the fact that they can do what they want, and think they'er okay to drive, over having some concern for the rest of the people out there :(
