Huhuhu.. i got my (mentrual period) when i woke up this morning, this is probably why my tummy is not feeling good last night (it seems bloated) and my lower back is hurting. i usually don't feel good before the day i get my period, i've already been expecting i'll get my period this week. For me the first day is the tough one cause i feel like a mess cause i have all this cramps and pain on my tummy and lower back and hips. I use midol but not all the time i just don't want to be dependent on medicine if i can still take the pain. I only have 3days, the second day is not usually bad and the third day is only very light. I have a regular menstruation, other girls don't have. i'm really glad i have a period for only 3 days, some have it for almost a week. that would be a real hassle and it would really sucks for me since i don't want to have a long period, well i guess i'm lucky to have only 3 days. how about you? How long is your mentrual period? What days are strong and painful? do you take medicine for cramps and pains? do you know when exactly you will get your mentrual period?

Mine takes 7 days too. The first time I have that period makes me feel annoying but later on I started to overcome it. I don't drink any medicine if I head is aching or if my tummy is crumping, I just drink hot chocolates and rest.
I know when it will come because I always feel something different before in comes out. I mean I feel symptoms a week before it started.

before menopause, when I had menstrual periods for a week, I really bled the first two days. I did not have much pain, but I was a grouch all the time. That is even when I did not have my period. I was also irregular and I think much of it after my marriage was due to miscarriages or spontaneous abortions.
I never knew when they would come, I would think "Oh I am pregnant, happy day!" two weeks after the expected date, and then the bleeding would start.
If I took anything, it was usually tylenol.

I have very difficult menstrual cycle. I have mine for anywhere between 7 and 10 days. i know it usually comes every 26 days. I usually bloat heavily before it is coming so I usually know. I have very heavy flow that occur for the first four days then it tapers a bit and the final days are not much. The cramping is very painful and wipes me right out. People know something is wrong because I get pale as a ghost while I am on. I hate them so much. I wish I had three days. My sister gets them for three, but they are a rough three.

Hi, Claire...yeah, I understand the feeling. It ain't fun to feel our tummy bloating. Yikes!!! Sorry to hear about your cramps!!!
Before I took birth control pills, my period lasted 7 days, but nowadays it only lasts for 4-5 days and it's much lighter. Plus, ever since I took birth control pills, I don't experience any belly pain anymore (usually on the first day or second day I felt the pain inside my belly before I took the pills). Since I take pills now, I know exactly when I'll get my period. Before taking pills, usually my period was pretty regular as well, even though the cycle was probably around 30-33 days, not 27 days.

Hello claire!(",)
I just had my period and I experienced dysmenorrhea the whole time. I usually have my period 3-5 days long and its heavy for the 1st-2nd day but toward the end it gets lighter. I was sick when I had my last menstruation that's why I was always in bed.
I don't take any medication because the pain was still manageable.(",)
Great day and God bless!

You are so lucky to have it for three days. I have mine for five days. The first day I have strong tummy pain, a backache and a bloated sort of feeling. I have a heavy flow this first day. The second day the pain goes and the flow is less. The third and fourth days have a light flow and no pain. The fifth day it comes to an end. I wear a pad unless i go swimming when I use a tampon. I don't take anything for the pain on the first day. The pain can get less if I go for a long walk. If it is nightime holding a hot water bottle against my tummy can help. I love to travel and having my menstrual period when on a lovely beach is not much fun. Therefore i try to calculate when I will have it. I get this fairly right. It comes round every 28 days.

I am nursing so I'm not supposed to have my period - indeed I didn't for like seven months. Mine can last up to a week, but some of those days I have nothing. I still have to wear something because I never know! The hormones of my period are one of the triggers for my period, so besides tiredness I generally have a migraine. I don't usually have cramps though. I hope yours is over soon!

hi claire. My period always lasts for 6 days. Two days before it comes, I usually have a headache and I feel like a grumpy bear. Something and someone can be very irritating for me.
My second day is usually the "strongest" and this is when the painful cramps begins. Fortunately, I don't regularly suffer from painful cramps. There are months that I don't have them but when they do come, I'm sure grateful that I have only to suffer for a day.
I have never taken any medicine but my husband usually urges me to take a Midol because he sees me, truly suffering big time. But I don't want to depend on Midol. Because I'm already dependent on taking a pain reliever when I've got a headache.
I can estimate what day I surely would be having my next period. Sometimes, it's 3 days earlier.

Hi claire, I've got to be honest here, at first I was surprised to see this discussion because I was raised that this is personal information but how the world has changed and is more open. I think it's wonderful because it's a fact of life and not something that should be ashamed of or hidden. I don't have periods anymore because I had a hysterectomy years ago however, when I did have them, the pains were really bad and the period itself lasted for 6 or 7 days which I hated!! LOL I'm so glad those days are over with for me. I've put up with many years of pain and all for nothing. At least I can say I tried to have children but it just wasn't meant to be.

You are lucky, too much fortunate if you only got 3 days for it. Because mine for 7-10 days, common thing for me but now no longer feeling back or hard pain on it after I took 02 product. Because it generate more volume of oxygen to my body system and my body immunity enhancement.

I have mine for 4 days and it's not painful at all.. I do have bloating but not to bad.. Being on birth control it helps control all the normal symptoms of menstrual pain and it downs the time of it also.. Before I was on birth control I was having it 7 days, Oh talk about a pain and all the money spent on personal things.. 4 days is sure enough for me!

Before when I was younger, I think I am having 5-7 days of menstrual period. I also feel pain sometimes during the first two days. but the third to the fifth day is fine with me. But there are times when I feel a little fear when I know my period is near to come esp when I am at school because that is really uncomfortable. I also take pain reliever before but just like you I dont want to depend on medicine. A little exercise before your period will help and a warm compress will also help. But when I gave birth... the pain subside and I had a painless menstruation every month. On my second baby... I noticed that I only have 3 days menstrual period in a month until now. I also have regular menstruation just like you and I am very glad I have. There are lots of girls that have an irregular menstruation and I know that its not easy for them... because there will be sort of problems due to irregularity. Like in the case of my cousin, because she was irregular in menstruation, she find it hard to know when she is fertile. She and her husband really wanted to have a baby... but until now after 5 years of marriage, she still doesnt have a baby. I know how hard it is for them... and sometimes I cant help but feel lucky for having a regular menstruation and a two beautiful babies.
I guess it will soon subside(I mean the pain) so take a little exercise and drink lots of fluid. Also take vitamins (ferro sulfate) and rest.

hi... i have it in one whole week... and i have a pretty heavy flow and it is very hard for me whenever i have it... but just like they say... it's like men...can't live with it, can't live without it...LOL...coz it worries me if my period skips due to overfatigue and stress.... btw, if i have it during cold weather, i feel okay but once it is stifling hot here, i feel downright miserable. drinking coke helps relieve the pain of my cramps... though it's usually my legs that are painful and not abdomen.. hahaha...weird but true.... LOL
