Candles are a 3 billion $$ industry. Over 85% of all homes in america burn candles. With such a huge market that got me thinking..."what do you look for before buying a candle?"scent-"it's all about the scent!"cost-what is ever onsale how it performs-must burn evenly and not tunnel how it burns-must burn clean and soot free Which one/ones of these to you consider before making a purchase? If it is something not listed or you don't burn candles tell me why? Thanks for you comments...look forward to getting to know you all!

When I buy candles, I consider the effect first. Usually, I like candles that have a relaxing and calming effect. The next thing that I consider is the cost, I buy the candle when the price is reasonable. The design I guess would be the last in my list. I like buying candles that compliment the color and shape of my furniture and the interior of the room where it is placed.

Hi there. When buying candles, my main focus is on scent and how fast the candles burns... As I dont go for candles that burn too fast or leave huge holes in the center and no wick...

I use to buy candle.. probably once in a month. I use it for my alter at home.. for praying. I do sometimes burn it (scented candles) to make my home smell fresh and nice. When i purchase.. i normally get the burn clean and soot free ones.

At first we have see the quality of that candle. then think whether it gives a pleasant to the environment where it have to kept. one more thing is there,i feel candle is the symbol of peace. candle is like a white flag and always buy white coloured candle.then only the real meaning to fire a candle will fulfill.

Hi jriley! For me its about the scent of the candle. It has to smell like something is baking or a very vanilla smell. I usually buy Yankee candles. Yes they are more expensive but I dont care. I would rather spend alittle more and have something that burns well. Enjoy your candles!LOL

These are the thing i consider before buying a candle... 1. The size and shape... i like the fat ones that can stand alone... they also last longer... 2. Color and smell... i like a candle that smell relaxing and would make the whole room smell nice... the color should also blend with the motif of the house. 3. Smokeless.... i only buy the smokeless candles... so that the ceiling or walls won't have that dark mark or spot...

I look for the scent I want first. I am a little afraid to burn candles with 3 cats so I often go for tarts but when I buy a candle, I look for plenty of room between the wax and the end of the wick so the flame doesn't rise above the the container. If I find a candle I particularly like, I will buy other scents in that line. I usually use Yankee Candles because they smell amazing, burn evenly, and are sturdy. My cats never manage to tip one over or get singed and yes, they have done both before with other candles.

the perfumes are used in them! that is the main thing.but all r not natural please understand that.becos they mix the perfume into cheaper ones.this makes it artificial most of the time!

When I buy candles I look first for a scent that I like. All the better if the color will look good in the room that I will be burning it in. I like a clean burning candle, who needs it to smoke while it adds fragrance to your home. I also like candles that burn a bit slower. That way it feels like your getting a little more for your money.

I choose my candles mainly on the scent. If there is more than one brand that has the same or similar scent I might buy the cheaper one. I am not too picky about my candles.

When I used to purchase candles, I went by scent. It had to knock me out of my shoes with scent. After a while, I found that I just couldn't find that any more, so I started making my own. I'm still a scent hound, but now I go for clean burning too.

I love scented candles and that is what usually draws me to purchase a new candle. I like to have several scents on hand so that I can choose what I'm in the mood for! It really makes the home smell great and you can always have a nice candlelit dinner too for a change in pace. I also think various candleholders make great decorations on wall or tables. There is a huge market for these. The fireplace ones are also very nice!

We are not allowed to burn candles in my apartments. It's been made a part of the lease agreement to prevent fires from candles being left unattended. I do, however, buy candles as gifts. Scent is one of the first things I look for, but I also try to find the kind that won't have messy drips. Container candles or the large pedestal type with a decorative base to collect the melted wax are preferable to most other types. Burning cleanly is another plus in the decision making process. :)

I am a wahm and business owner. I sell all natural wax candles, set up fundraisers with them and teach others how to build a successful business on and off line as well! Our candles are a unique wax blend of soy, veggie and bees wax. They burn clean-soot free and evenly using up almost of the the wax. Remaining wax can be easily removed and melted in your simmer pot...getting the most out of your money! Best of all, they smell fantastic from top to bottom and if you spill the wax it cleans up easily with hot soapy water. Come by my site and request a free catalog or scent sample...may I suggest "Pumpkin Cheesecake." www.FlaminScents.com
