Are you "dressing up" for Halloween this year? I'm 60 and I am!

I spend every Halloween with my daughter and granddaughter. It's become sort of a tradition for us. Since my granddaughter has Downes Syndrome she's still not sure what the heck we're doing when we put on costumes but now that she's 14 we're hoping she's getting it a little more this year. Her favorite thing to be is a witch...or weetch as she pronounces it. My daughter, the tall blonde airhead...lol..(that's for another discussion) wouldn't think of putting on any kind of costume but good ol' gram here does it every year!
Last year I was dressed as a witch with horrible white face and a big black witch and Vicky got the biggest hoot out of it. I even came to their door that way and she wasn't going to let me in! I'm thinking of being a witch again this year but that face stuff was horrible so I think I'll leave that out this year!
(I'll be sure to take pictures this year to post here!)
Do you really get into the Halloween spirit? Do you do anything for Halloween in the way of dressing up or painting your face?

I never realized that there are countries (and in this day and age I really should) who don't make a big deal out of halloween. I'm happy that you are having a party and your parents are going to be enjoying it as well.

I am not planning on dressing up for Halloween this year as I have not been feeling well and am not in the spirit this year. Last year I dressed up like a die hard Eagles fan with a evil looking Eagles mask. I enjoy giving out candy to the kids coming by my house so I will do that but will not be dressing up.

We don't celebrate Halloweenin Australia. At least officially that is. Many shops have been trying to encourage Halloween for some time, purely to make money. To an extent, they have been successful.
My daughter loved dressing up for Hallkooween. Sometimes she would go as a fairy. Once she took our little min fox terrier dressed up with fairy wings too.
I go with her trick or treating, but I don't dress up.

Fantastic. Who says Halloween is just for kids? It sounds like the Halloween spirit skipped a generation.I hope you and your grand daughter have a great time.As for me, I like Halloween but I stopped dressing up. Instead I try to see my Rocky Horror video.

You sound like my mom. She dressed up for Halloween with my son for many years. (she doesn't live in the same state as us now) My son would choose what he wanted both of them to be for Halloween. Usually they were the same thing. It was soooo cute.
You sound like a fun grandma:)

I have always hated dressing up for Halloween, or for anything else. I tolerated it because I love sweets and wanted the candy. I don't dress up, nor do I take the kids out. My husband always takes the kids out or they go with a friend and their parent. It's usually cold and/or rainy and I can't handle walking around in that weather. I will put on a Halloween t-shirt and some skeleton earrings, or flashing ghost earrings and dole out the candy. I always get comments on my earrings. Which goes to prove you don't have to dress up too much to make an impression. LOL!

I think my granddaughter is the reason I get so much into Halloween. She is always the one I'm trying to impress and get a laugh out of. Next to Christmas it's her favorite holiday.

Up until I cut my hair short it was almost to my waist. When it was that long I would pin a small pillow into the inside of a tshirt near the shoulder. I would rat my hair with a brush making it all nappy and ratty looking. Then I'd smear makeup or dirt on my face. I looked like the Hunchback. Kids loved it as the knocked on my door.
HAPPY POSTINGS FROM GRANDPA BOB !!~

Well, I don't do Halloween at all. I love the fall festival events, but I don't even buy candy to give out, I just never have done much of that. We live in the country and our house is way off the road so no one comes here anyway. You go and have a great time, I'm all for anyone who wants to do that, I do like to see the costumes in the stores, a lot of employees go all out. I worked in a call center a few years back and a lot of the employees dressed up and had a blast!! I wish more gramma's were as fun as you are!! Please do take some pics and share with us, gee you have made my day brighter just reading your discussion. You must be the life of the party when you are around! You know some people just light up a room when they come in, I bet you are like that. Have a great time and be careful, not everyone is nice on days or nights like this, but have FUN!!

I worked in a call center one time and the whole place went crazy...lol...we had a parade around the building and even prizes for different categories. It was awesome!
I know what you mean about not everyone being nice and am always VERY careful since my granddaughter will be with me.

Haven't before but we are this year for the first time. My son has two costumes, Spiderman (boring LOL) and TMTN (Ninja Turtles) - i like that one! As for me ummm not sure if we are going to go trick or treating in our apartment block as there are not many kids around and not sure if anyone does trick or treating here. Might have to talk with some of the parents at school to see if we can join in with them.
I want to decorate our house and balcony as well but not sure how to. Any suggestions?

I haven't done anything like that in many years, ctry, but I think it's great! I would probably do something if I didn't spend so much time by myself. Maybe I'll see what my youngest daughter is planning to do and we might get together. She's always trying to drag me out of the house. I used to enjoy doing all those kinds of things for Halloween, but I guess I've become stagnant. You have inspired me.

Oh, my friend. I've also been stagnant for years but on certain occasions like Halloween I have to break loose. I hope you do decide to get out and enjoy yourself. Life is much to short. Have fun!

I work for a school and the staff always dresses up with a theme. This year we are all going as Disney characters. I have decided to be the Queen of Hearts from Alice in Wonderland. We're getting cosutmes from our drama department so they're going to be really good. I love dressing up for Halloween.

it is okay to dress up for Halloween specially for a kid like your granddaughter. It is what we call family bonding. You will make her happy as well as your daughter. I like to see granny to dress up because they are cute and funny. Keep that up and have fun....!

It is not a usual happening here in our place. We just observe halloween by lightning a candle for the departted souls of our love ones. Althought there is halooween parties happening in some other places. I am not just used of joining it or dressing up for it. On the day itself, we say prayers and have few foods prepared for eating together.
