My son watched again for the millionth time the SpongeBob Movie last night. There is a song on it "Goofy Gubber" and all the rest of the night and this morning he is singing "I'm a goofy guffer guy" just that over and over again. Even when he was falling asleep he was repeating this one line as he drifted off.
She there a song or phrase you child says over and over again till you think you are becoming a "Goofy Gubber" yourself?

hi vicki. When I was pregnant with my son, that was the first time I first met "Spongebob". I couldn't get out of the house much because I had terrible bouts of nausea and vomiting. So, to keep myself entertained, I watched tv. And that's when I saw Spongebob in the Nickoledeon channel.
I introduced Spongebob to my son, too when he was old enough to understand. But, unlike your child, he had the exact opposite reaction. About the "Goofy Gubber" song, the moment Spongebob started singing, my son bolted off the bed and ran acroos the room and tried to hide. He was so scared that he started crying out loud! I had no choice but to turn the tv off and calm him down.^_^

I wonder why he reacts that way. Up to this day, he still doesn't like to see or hear that song!

My son also loves to watch cartoons, including Spongebob. Well I really don't know why but they keep on watching it even it's already replayed telecast and had watch them before. He love to sing the introduction music (spongebob squarepants). Maybe cartoons character really gets into the nerve of our kids including the music they hear on them.

Oh boy the Gooffy goober song Im a goofy goober yeah Im a goofy goober yeah a gooffy goober ....... I had this in my home for about 6 months lol I figure there is worse things he could be seeing or repeating from tv....He sang Dora back pack back pack and bear in big blue house goodnight song and the Out of the Box so long to you goodbye my friends.... I have four children so each one has liked something differnt we went through the barney phase, then teletubbies, blues clues and Dora, then Thomas the train and jay jay so its kind of good when they pick up stuff but my sons favorite that replaced spongebobs gooffy goober
was Larry Boy from Veggie tales a wholesome christian cartoon based on tempation and how to avoid it and it is wonderful there is a asong larry boy that he sings and he goes through the house saying im not temtped by candy I must be strong like Larry Boy lol

my 5 year old daughter loves watching spongebob. Though I know its dumb and stupid and not a good influence to children, she just loves it. I'm glad she doesnt sings out the songs from spongebob.

It is rubbish but I think they know this and that is why they like it. The good stuff they hate. There was this bobo show that I thought was so cool and educational. I would do the stuff they asked the kids at home to do so that my son would like it but he just hated it. Thought it was a baby show. Oh well I have many other educational outlets for him so he can indulge in some goofy gubberism now and then.

Everytime my son hears a new song, he goes on with the first two lines...all day long. Sometimes it's fun and I sing along with him...but sometimes (especially when I'm trying to get some work done)it's really irritating and then I've got to ask him to please sing in his room so that he doesn't disturb me. At the moment it's 'Incy, Wincy spider'...he's trying to teach his little brother.

Hi vicki,
I haven't had this problem yet because my daughter is only 16 months old. I'm sure that once she gets a little bit older I will have the same problem. When I was a teenager and I was babysitting 2 girls and one boy the one girl would run around the house singing "This is the song that never ends, it just goes on and on my friend, some people started singing it, not knowing what it was, and they'll just keep on singing it forver just because" over and over and over and over and I think you get it lol. That drove me bonkers!
Your Friend, PurpleTeddyBear!

When my son was around 2yrs. old he would sing the Barney song all of the time. It drove me crazy. Then when my step-granddaughter was 2 she was singing the same song. I would laugh because I thought I was through with Barney. It is cute, but it sure gets old fast.:)

A friend of mines son watches Sponge Bob, not long ago they went to pick up his dad from work. No sooner had he got his leg in the car, Tylor pipes up from the backseat in a really sad voice and says "Dad your not my Moms type anymore" lol They were both confused and asked him where in the world did he get that idea from, he said Sponge Bob. lol
She probably wishes he had only picked up an annoying song to sing over and over and over again. lol

Oh ya my kids love SpongeBob! My 4 year old knows the whole song and sings it quite loudly all the time, even my 13 month old loves SpongeBob. The little one can't say SpongeBob yet but he sure tries, it comes out more like SponBa. He yells that over and over and over again the whole time the show is on! It is really funny most of the time because he is so little but sometimes it just drives me crazy!

I remember when I was about 9 or 10 there was a popular R&B song called "Ooh-laa-la" Us older kids knew most of the song, but my best friends little siblings and cousin only knew the hook. "Ooh-laa-la, ooh-laa-la, I can't, can't get over you-ooo" They would run around our houses singing that same line over and over. Finally me and my friend got tired and yelled, "If you're not gonna learn the rest of the song, stop singing it! You sound like a broken record." But now I see that they just wanted to be one of the big kids.

I personally strongly dislike spongebob. I have seen a few of the episodes with the kids and I just can not see what it is about the show that draws the kids into it. The show is just plain stupid in my opinion. They take every action to the extreme. It is total nonsense. I miss the shows of my childhood when kids shows actually taught us something positive.
