A fellow MyLotter started a discussion called The MyLotter Wall of Shame; with a link to a discussion that he felt qualified to bein that catagory. I clicked on a link & discovered it was a discussion insulting people who were over weight. One of the OP's responses to a comment was extremely insulting & included veiled profanity. I reported it as abuse. After I completed my report a messsage appeared saying the discussion had been removed for violating MyLot content. Am I really that powerful. Also when I went back to the MyLotter Wall of Shame discussion & tried to post a comment I got the same message saying that the discussion had been removed. I PMed the MyLotter who started that discussion to explain what happened. I haven't heard back from him so I don't know if he didn't get my message or is upset. I'm not mentioning names; because I don't know if it would be proper to do so. So was it me or just a coincidence?

You may or may not have been the one to cause the comment and the discussion to have been deleted, but do not feel bad about it. If the original poster was being sarcastic about specific discussions and calling them shameful, then he was being shameful himself. He should have reported the discussion that he thought was shameful. It is correct, people do not have empathy for people with weight issues. That was a bad discussion. The person who started the "Wall of Shame" discussion should have nominated types of discussions to his wall of shame, not specific ones. That is like pointing your finger at someone and making fun of them.

Yes you are really that powerful...Mylot will look into anything that you report as abuse.I would not worry about it,and would not care what that person who started that thought, mylot never reveals the reporter, all they know is that discussion has been removed...That was an insult to even start a discussion like that to start with..We should never down people because of their weight ,rather it be fat or skinny ,thats very abusive and insulting to all,and you did the right thing by reporting it.Mylot removed that discussion because they looked into it and found it abuse thats why they removed it...Mylot cannot see everything and they have it in the guidelines to all mylotters to help them look for abuse and report it...Who cares if hes mad!

Thank you for your comments & explanation. I only inteded to report the discussion concerning fat people. I did not intend to report The Wall of Shame discussion. Someone else pointed out that you were not suppose to post links to other discussion & that was probably why it was removed so I guess it would have been removed whether I reported it or not. I am goinmg to be extra careful about reporting abuse & only do it if it truly deseves to be reported.

These are the grounds I see concerning your topic, it could be that someone have already reported it ahead of you (let's say those who got irked by it and were offended so they reported it) or could also be the admin who found it already ahead of you. Also, I know that it is against the guidelines to start posts that falls under an abuse and/or flame other members. It's always handy whenever we know the guidelines, since we can easily avoid and follow what we are expected to do so. I'm not really sure, it could be you, me or anyone out there, or maybe it was just plain coincidence.

I think it replied to that message and gave that one a piece of my mind. I sure did not appreciate trash like that. I did not report it though as I need all the points I can. Yes you are that powerful. I think myLot removes every post that is reported, so you have to be careful that it does not violate the guidelines, and not because you did not agree with the poster.

Hi GaiaFireLynx! I guess, you do have the power and all people here in myLot to remove a discussion if it was proven to be in violation of the guidelines. I heard that the admin here really investigates all actions that are taken to be abusive in nature. I do praise your courage to report topics that are in direct violation of mylot. I haven't reported any because the discussions that I come across with are just alright. Take care and have a nice day.

Most likely a coincidence. Sorry, don't mean to pop your bubble but MyLot associates aren't that fast. LOL You did the right thing though in reporting the insulting discussion. Some people don't understand weight gain. It's not always the person's choice. It could be a medical condition or because of medication that the person is taking. I used to be thin as a rail then I had to take steriods for three weeks because of the terrible outbreaks of Lupus in which I gained about 12 pounds. Then my thyroid went wacko in which made me gain more weight but I found out the problem and now am on medication for it. Then I had to have a hysterectomy so I gained more from that. I'm not fat fat, per sae but I'm a far cry from being the 101 pound gal that I used to be. And none of the weight gain is from food but different medical conditons. So for those who are critical of over weight people, think before you say anything because it CAN happen to you.

I think there must have been a lot of people who reported it or maybe moderator was in the right place in the right time:P I have reported some discussions but the haven't been deleted in a moment. On the other hand the Wall of Shame was probably breaking the rules by giving a links to other discussions and that's prohibited. Maybe that was the case...

Probably a bit of both. It is very likely that they received several complaints, so you were one of the number they needed to lead them to investigate that particular post.
