Does everyone have a credit card any why? It's said that the credit card has a long history in the western countries,so,what do you think of using credit cards? Is it common, convenient or necessary? And what's your opinion about students in campus to use a credit card? On the other hand, the credit card may be really a new comer in china.Last year,I got a credit card, but I never uesed it in the past one year.Once I knew it takes annual fee,I just canceled it.

For me, a credit card is a necessity and a safety precaution. If you purchase items online, then you need a credit card. Many hotels and hostels also require a credit card, so it's vital if you travel. If you're an international traveller, it saves you the hassle of travellers cheques, and also allows you to book ahead if you want to organise day trips or accommodation. Personally, I also believe it's much safer to carry a piece of plastic around instead of cash. A credit card can be cancelled if you're robbed, but you can't cancel money. I do however believe that banks now give credit cards out too easily. Students rack up huge debts and have no way of paying the debt back. I believe that strict limits should be applied to anyone who receives a credit card if they are not working, or only work part-time.

Credit cards can be convenient but they can also be a huge trap. The interest is something people tend to forget to think about. Unless you can pay your purchases each month in full instead of making minimum payments it's not a good idea. Then many of them charge a fee just to use them which if we think about it .. well it doesn't necessarily make them the best thing in the world. As I said, well, they can be convenient, but they're still a trap :)

Credit cards are helpful and convenient but you have to learn to use them in the wisest way you know because as a lot says it encourage you to spend more and more without having to cash out money and before you knew it your credit has piled up and your up to neck on your debts. I have credit crads and trying to get rid of them soon.

I have a credit card and i really cannot live without a credit card. it is very difficult to just take the cash all over the shopping places and take it out of the wallet, count and give the money and all that. It is very simple to give the card and sign it instead of having a bulky wallet in the pocket. I think, for me credit card is necessary even though it cannot be used in all places.

No, I don’t have a credit card neither do I intend to acquire one. Compared to the Western nations, its comparatively new in India but most people nowadays have one and many even like to flaunt multiple credit cards. Its become almost a status symbol to have credit cards of international banks like HSBC, Stanchart, Amex, Citibank, etc. Like everything else, plastic money too has its pros and cons. For one, you don’t need to carry cash with you so you are in no danger of losing your wallet or getting robbed. Then again in certain situations, you are not carrying enough cash you need and the credit card does come in handy. This is specially so in emergency cases like in hospitals. But otherwise, I think its just a ploy for the banks and the traders to make us pay more that we intend to. Suppose you are visiting a shopping mall and you have a fixed list of things to buy and are carrying cash accordingly. Something expensive catches your fancy and if you have a credit card, you are tempted to buy that (even if you don’t need it) by using the card. Similarly for restaurants and other places where the sellers goad you into spending more than you initially intended to and you don’t mind at that moment as you are not actually paying real cash. Its only later when the bank statement comes, that you realize that taking into account the bank’s processing fees, your payback and service charges, you have actually ended up paying more than the actual price of the commodities you purchased. I dislike the idea of living on credit…I believe in buying only those things which I need and which I can afford with my hard-earned money. My hubby believes the same. So neither of us has any credit cards.

Hi,sudiptacallingu. Thanks for your response. After reading it,I think the credit card is more like a temptation which I should learn how to resist.Actually, I always felt compunction at what I have bought before, say nothing of the extra charges. And the debit card is better for me.

I have credit cards and I think they are very convenient for me. I don't have to carry lots of cash and it is safe. Besides, it is clean because I don't have to touch the cash. And the credit card company will give me some gifts according to my consuming.

I just get my credit card on last two month and i already use it for buying the things and pay my expenses. By having a redit card, it will more convenient for me. I can buy the things that i want if i just less few dollar in my wallet. But i must make sure that i will go to pay my credi card on time in order to avoid the late payment charges.

Yes, i do have a credit card. I think it's a necessity and convenience at the same time. You don't have to bring cash anymore. I use it in buying the groceries, shopping and in almost everything that i buy. I like it most because it let's me buy appliances like television without shelling so much money. I use the card to pay thru installments. Just be sure to have the discipline to be a good payer. This way your card will go a long way to be a great help.
