May be I am posting this discussion in wrong forum. But I wish to continue.
We all know about solar energy: it is freely available, it is free from polution, it non exhustible source or energy etc.
However, just think about your routine life. How much solar energy do you use in a day?
What are the problems in using this source of energy? I really do not know much about it...can you tell me?

solar energy is free. but to use this in storing electricity is too expensive and average people can not afford it. if only solar panels can be made available in the market at cheaper price, of course many will use it.

I agree with you, solar energy is free but the technology that will be going to store that eneryg is very way too expensive, only rich people can afford such technology but if the government will do some way to make it cheap maybe its a good thing to start. Good thing start to stop some dangerous and killer powerplants...

Solar energy is an alternative source of energy, but the main problem is that the equipment or device that convert solar energy to electrical energy costs more and is not affordable to common people.

yeah, you got the point. not practical for an average people to buy those solar panels and devices.

The equipment what the manufacturers are marketing is priced high and there will not be much savings for households. Therefore the government should create such an atmosphere which enables the manufacturers to produce the solar heaters to produce at cheap rate so as to entice the general public go for it so that they consume less and less electric energy. Also a lot of R & D has to be carried out to enable solar energy is made available in battery forms.

The biggest problem with the use of solar energy dispite the fact that it is pollution free and readily available is its installation cost. The cost is heavy and need to be supported by govt by way of sops and at the same time efforts should be made to educate people about this source of energy.

I believe, using solar energy is a environment friendly method. But since we're still not expert enough, we lack of technology to convert solar technoly to our needs. We do have the technology but it is very expensive. We need more Research and Development to convert solar energy into something that everyone able to use.
Currently, those equipment that use solar energy quit very high. Therefore, the usage of solar energy still very less.

Another technical reason which was pointed by an Electrical Engineer is that the solar battery gives D.C. current whereas all our home appliences are designed to work using A.C. I am not sure how much expensive the conversion from of D.C. to A.c. is..

Its due to the cost of photovoltaics (solar panels). Also due to the cost and energy production issues its not as practical. Fortunately more research development and testing is happening in both the private and public sectors.

Thats the science interest, but it doesn't really matter if you use them or not. You do however want to avoid posting in an incorrect interest. (like posting this thread in the cooking section for example).
