Rubicks Cube - fun and games

My son and hubby picked up a rubicks cube from Borders yesterday and now I am sitting here trying to do it LOL I haven't played with one of these in years. I can do one side and not the others - I wonder if there are "cheats online" like they have for PS games LOL I might have to go and have a look! Have you played with a Rubicks Cube? have you ever completed one easily? They are a lot of fun especially when I see the excitement on my sons face when I complete one colour/side, but then again can become frustrating when I can't do more than one color/side. The one we have is not exactly like the one in the picture and instead has 4x4 sides instead of 3x3 :) that's probably why I can't complete the whole thing LOL

hahaha I'm waiting for the day when my son comes to me and says "See mum, that was easy" LOL I managed to do one color and the top row of all the other colours but thats about it. I don't have enough patience to stick with it for a long period of time. Everytime I go back to it my son has messed it up LOL

I actually bought one of these recently from eBay. I played with it for like 2 days, then I just got frustrated and the novelty wore off... hehe

Rubiks Twist - This is way more fun than the rubiks cubes!
I cant do them either!! I have tried a million timeas and never get anywhere. I do have a Rubiks Twist, ive had for years. I can make a lot of things with it like a ball, bow, dog, cobra, iron, swan, and a few others. I think they are more fun than the cubes.

Wow I have never heard of a rubicks twist - that picture you added shows they look like they are a lot more fun than the plain rubiks cubed - oh maybe that will be the next thing I'll get once i try to complete the one I have now LOL

I never saw one like the one in the picture. The ones that we use to do had no color on the inside of the cube. In fact, the cubes were not even closed up all around. There were a few times that I accidently solved it. I use to be able to sit with those things for hours. My friend Ann, got one from a museum, while on a date, not too long ago. The colors were a lot softer, but it was the same basic concept. I gave that thing about ten minutes and then forgot she even had it. I do not have the patience any more. Happy cubing.

You are not going to believe this. Right after I responded to your topic, I went to Myspace.com to see what my nieces and nephews have been up to. They have a video on the front page of a guy who solves two rubicks cubes at the same time, in a matter of minutes. Go check it out.

LOL! I recently found mine, when I was cleaning out the rest of the boxes I had from moving. I put it in the cupboard and decided I still wanted to play with it some time. But, because I know I have never completed all sides and I know how frusterating it can get, I think that is why it remains in the cupboard.LOL It is some kind of mathimatics. To much for my brain. I have the 3X3. Maybe I will try it tomorrow, just for the fun of it.LOL I did not know they have them 4x4. 3x3 is hard enough.lol Take care.

4x4 is even harder. I do remember the 3x3 from school way back in the day. I found that hard to do too :)

The last time i played a rubicks cube was I think two years ago at school. When i was a kid I really hate to play with this puzzle cause I really cant figure out how it is done but last year when my classmate brought a rubicks cube to our school I saw him completing it in just less than 3 minutes or so. I was amazed and a bit surprised of what he did so I borrowed it from him and tried to study the puzzle and tried to solve it for so many times. then after a long time of trying, I finally solved and completed the rubicks cube it was really fun and it really felt good after finishing that kind of puzzle since it is really hard. Then after that I could now do it in less than 10 min. I know that 10 min. is still slow but for me it is already an achievement...lol ^_^

Wow Rubik’s Cube! I did not know they were actually available nowadays. I have one at home, it’s a reminder of my childhood days when the Cube first hit the market. The excitement, the anticipation, the frustration, the awe everything just comes back to me whenever I see the worn out block of colours. Two or three colour stickers are gone, I had instead stuck paper pieces on them with the colours done in by me in colour pencils. Yeah, I was so crazy about it, that once a colour slip came out, I could not wait for my parents to go and get me a new cube. And they in turn saw how resourceful their daughter was, and did not buy me a new one LOL! and then there was a time when my dad’s friends or my favourite uncle were quite afraid to set foot in our home. I would pester each of them to match all the six sides and the one that could, was my ultimate hero, the brainiest man in the world. dad could not do all six, maybe just 2 or 3 sides and as for me, I could and still can do only 1 side after all this practice (just goes to show how brainy I am!)

I remember trying to do one before, I don't think I was ever successful at it though. They are entertaining and frustrating, I know that. I think they are getting popular again. Have fun with it!

I had not seen one in years until my son found it at Borders - seems like they are coming back in alright - I am still frustrated with it though and can only do one side of colours.

I haven't played with a Rubik's Cube for a long time! I never did figure it out and never could get more than one side. I wish you luck on it and I may have to go get one for my kids as we were talking about one a few months ago and they had no idea as to what it was. Kids these days miss out on so much by not playing with things like that. Jacks, jump rope, etc. how much fun and yet they don't enjoy it!

We tend to think to hard when trying to solve these brain teaser puzzles. It's like the "think outside the box" test. The solution is often easier than we think.

I think I have ompleted one oce, lol. It came out when I was in elementary school, and other kids got really well versed at it, while others mastered switching the square stickers around,lol...then stores caught on and started selling replacement sheets of stickers!! I never cheated, I tried until I got to do it that once and that was it for me,lol.

I haven't played with one of those in years. I don't even remember if I ever got them all to match up. It does get frustrating but then it's like you just want to sit there and mess with it until you get it right. lol
