What Is A GOOD Low-Fat or Low-Cal Ice Cream?

I would find the best quality ice cream you can and eat in moderation - buy only small containers versus trying to find an ice cream that "follows the rules" and eating just as much as you do now. OR make your own ice cream. When you make your own it takes more effort so it will really be a treat versus a dietary staple.
Here are my reasons - you might find ice creams with less fat or reduced fat or less sugar but what replaces the milk fat to give its flavor and consistency? Probably lots of chemicals and things you can't pronounce that your body can't process. and it doesn't just "pass through"...
It has been said that we are not necessarily holding onto weight because there is too much fat in our diet but because there is too much refined sugar in our diets. Plus all the "garbage" that is in it. Antibiotics given to cows, MSG (monosodium glutonate), partially hydrogenated oils and more. So it is really the quality of the food.
If you can find an organic ice cream at whole foods, etc, it may be more money and then you just buy less. I don't "go crazy" - I will eat foods that are not organic but when I can I try to get organic items that usually are the "biggest offenders" for junk additives and dairy is one of them (antibiotics given to cattle or just extra stuff)
Also, the hormones in dairy products really cause us to be fat too. Someone who has no dairy allergies, and eats enough protein, and eats items that naturally have fat in them but are not eating junk food do fine.
I have a diabetic relative - i know this is not your issue but i think it relates - but for "lowcal/low sugar" she was eating all sorts of "sugar free" cookies and "diet" foods instead of eating more veggies and naturally low sugar foods. the result was that she didn't lose weight because she was just eating stuff she shouldn't be eating in the first place.
Anyway, I know I ramble - but i guess it boils down to - if you love ice cream, enjoy it - just find better quality food and you will feel more satisfied and eat less of it.

Eh, I think we all ramble at times. This just happened to be one of your times. ^_^
I do eat a lot of vegetables and organic foods, but it is a little hard to find a nice littel sweet treat (like ice cream) to even loosely follow the standards I put on the other foods I put in my body.
I have no problem spending a few extra dollars buying a smaller container of ice cream if it is of a high quality and better for my body.
One thing I did enjoy about healthy foods, however, is dark chocolate. I have my little dark chocolate hershey kisses (2) every day. ^_^ That is a nice little sweet treat too.

I have found the Breyer's No Sugar Ice Cream to be very tasty. There isn't a whole lot of variety (basically, Vanilla, I believe.) It does have some fat in it, but the calorie count is much less than the no-fat kind. It also has fiber in it for that extra bits that we tend to overlook. :)
My second favorite is No Sugar added Well-Blue Bunny brand. I'm not sure if this is a nationwide brand, or if it's only local, here in the midwest. If you do have it, give this one a try. It tastes decent (not as creamy as the real deal) but, it still has decent flavor.
That's my own humble opinion. Good luck with finding the right ice cream for you! :)

We have tried a brand called Skinny Cow,and it was pretty good. We had a couple different flavors of their ice cream sandwiches. I hope you can find it. Good luck.
