I turn off appliances when not in use. I use a cup when brushing my teeth. We reuse plastic bags for many purposes. We reuse plastic bottles. Our school collects old newspaper for fund raising. I believe these and more other little things, when everyone does the same, will contribute to the wellness of our environment immensely.

Hi lifez2short! We do recycle a lot. All plastic bags are being re-used until they are worn out and by then we just use them as trash bags. All dried leaves and some leftover foods and peeilngs of vegetables and fruits are being made to compost so we can use the as fertilizers in our garden. All plastic cans and plastic containers are kept and once a month, there is someone who picks them up in our neighborhood as donation because he sells them to a junkyard in order for him to continue his eucation. I guess, this is our small way in helping out our environment. Take care and have a nice day.

My residence is located in the middle of commercial hub so there is a lot of pollution. I keep my place clean, grow more plants so that all the carbon monoxide is obsolves here. I do not use plastic bags. I sort out the garbage and put in different bins. I am a member of local environment group which plans a lot of activities to bring greater awareness.

Being a person who is a cheapsk- I mean thrifty, I use the cloth bags, and the bags that the stores have, the black ones when we go grocery shopping. I also put the papers and stuff in the recycled bin that our city provides (unfortunately they do not pay us, as I said I am a cheapska-.) I take the pop cans to our church school and our large pop bottles. They have a deal with a company who gives cash and they use the cash for fixing up the school. I do not have any children attending the school and I do not have enough to contribute so much as a non child adult.
I use those fluorescent curvy type lightbulbs in place of the incandescent ones. I put such out in the compact pile when my husband is not looking. I also save the jars the spaghetti sauce and jam came in, so if I want to make my own, or make my own jam, I do not have to buy extra at the store.
So much for the environment. I take this as saving money and not being wasteful.

Sadly I dont do enough. I try to recycle my WalMart bags but I usually forget to take them back so I end up throwing them away. Some areas of town have curb side recycle setups. I used to save cans but now I have no room to keep them or any place to take them.

Well I try to do little things like not leave my car running when its not necessary. I pick up trash I find lying on the street if I'm walking by and I recycle everything I can. I also don't use products that can harm the environment other then smoking. I don't do that much but I do, do some little things and every little bit counts.

I recycle everything I possibly can in the area I live in. I reuse plastic bags for garbage bags and make sure I don't use unnecessary electricity by turning off lights, tv, etc...when I'm not using them. I also return my old toner cartridges for my laser printer when they die to a recycle facility. I recently returned a bunch of old cell phones I've collected over the years to a recycle place too, since I don't want the batteries that are in them lying in a waste heap somewhere.

I together with my family do recycle a plastic bag. All plastic bags are being re-used until they are worn out and can not use again then we just use them as trash bags. And all dried leaves and some leftover foods and peelings of vegetables and fruits are being made become compost so we can use the as fertilizers in our garden. All plastic cans and plastic containers are kept and we use to plant a vegetable or flower,I think, this is only our small way in helping out our environment from the polution.

Our city recycles. The garbage company supplies a garbage can for this and picks up every other week. I also clean the street in front of my house of debris toosed out.
HAPPY POSTINGS FROM GRANDPA BOB !!~

I was loading photos showing how my hubby and I take care of the environment when I noticed your discussion. We have been thinking green for many, many years. Our spiritual beliefs are 'rooted' deep in Celtic and Aboriginal teachings. They emphasis our connection to all that is and so we are constantly thinking about what kind of an imprint we are leaving on the earth in all that we do.
We garden and landscape and it is one of our passions...but we do so with great respect for the earth and everything in and on it. We collect rain and use that to water our plants with instead of using town water. Other things we do is recycle and reuse everything we can. We shop at thrift stores and recycle back to them anything that has outlived its purpose in our lives. We grow our own fruits, vegetable and herbs and never use any pesticides or any where on our property. Vinegar and water is a favorite cleaning product..rather than adding harsh chemicals into our space. Picking up trash, not letting taps run while brushing our teeth. Turning off lights when we are not in a room, reducing heat at night...insulating our home so we use less energy..using energy efficient light bulbs in all lamps.
Those are just a few of the things we are doing to help preserve the health and longevity of this amazing planet. There are more...but that is all I can think of right now. Good topic!

Lifez2short, I plant trees to save our environment! We also store some stuff for recycling and clean trash on the street.

That is a great subject saving the environment. How can we help... one thing is sure we have to recycle everything that we can, just not throw you trash everywhere (non-recyclable), but there is a lot more than recycle.

I'm trying to get more environmentally friendly - I've started recycling paper and bottles, as there are places close to me for those things.
