I need help locating a missing folder, which apparently I accidently deleted. It is my 14 year old daughters folder which she says was saved in My Documents. It contains her school work. I believe there is a way of locating folders or documents that are missing... sometimes. This is urgent. I would appreciate any help.

Have you looked in your trash or recycle bin? You can take it out of there and put it back in the original location if you have not deleted your trash since you deleted it. Hope that helps!!

Yes, I definitely looked in recycled, but the bin had already been emptied.

I hope I'm not late in helping but... try going to Start, Search or Find, All Files and Folders and then type in the title of the file. It should come right up even if it's in the trash bin. I wish you luck!

I tried a systems restore, but am not exactly sure when it was deleted. I only restored back one day. I am prepared to do a systems restore as far back as possible. I won't loose any current or new documents/programs in this process will I? I think your suggestion is the best so far.

if you are sure that it was deleted, then the best thing to go to is the recycled bin :) it will be a different story if your daughter knows how to empty files in the recycled bin :)

Jenny! Hope I'm not too late! Try Recuva. http://www.recuva.com/ Its a program that does file recovery. As long as you didn't reformat the drive (sounds like you didn't) and as long as there wasn't physical damage (doesn't sound like it) then this program is worth a try. It even recovers files lost from viruses, malware. http://www.recuva.com/download In the future, be sure to have a copy of important files in a safespot on the drive (update every week or month) and also on a remote harddrive and CD(CD-RW). I'd also use a USB flash drive.

I meant to say that my daughter has a USB & I am going to emphasise to her that she really must use it for all her work. As it turns out, it was really school work she had on this folder, it was html script which she works out herself. I received your PM too. Thanks.
