Let's be aware of some points when using the Windows Vista - Windows Vista works well with latest models of PCs with RAM of about 1 Gig. Video cards should be upgraded to the latest technology. Some programs won't function that good in Windows Vista. There are still features which need to be harnessed due to compatibility issues. Practically, WIndows XP is far better than Windows Vista (if you are still on old PCs).

He speaks the truth. Vista is designed for the high end computers and notebooks. Even if you do it yourself complications going from XP to Vista can occur. Like the SP2 its better to get a new notebook or computer with Vista already on it, so there are less surprises. If you are on the older PCs, just stick to XP.

I have two friends who tried Vista but went back to XP, I had a look at it with one of my friends and it looks very good but it is very different, and I think the main problem with my friends was that as we all have a lot of pragrams that we have bought over the years and have out favourites, Vista would not accept some of them, now another friend said that sort of thing will be fixed as those programs will have to eventually put up a Vista patch type of thing but that is ok with programs that are the companies are still going but I know I have a few programs I just could not do without and i am not even sure if the companies that made them still exist and it takes me so long to get used to new and changes I just hate it so I am going to stick with XP for as long as possible...

At this point, XP is the way to go. Vista still needs work and has a lot of compatibility issues. However, XP had the same problems when it first came out too. It's just going to take some time for people (and computers) to adapt to Vista.

Get or stay on XP. Ryanphil already mentioned somethings but I'll mention some of the rest. Vista does require more and better equipment to work. At least 1028 RAM, a recent and high quality video card, a suitable monitor, high end CPU. Also with Vista there are compatibility issues with older programs. This is sort of like XP but this is WAY worse. Expect a lot of issues trying to run programs Vista you used on XP. Several known developers had to delay and tool their software in order to make it Vista compatible.

Well, VISTA still have got some bugs, and some programs still have a compatibility issue with vista, where as a windows XP with SP2 installed is a proven stable system .. VISTA will get better on the way anyway . if you want to stay cool , go for vista. If you care for stability and reliability, stay with XP + SP2.
