Asian Ball joint dolls are highly customizeable fully poseable dolls made from a strong durable poly resin material. The dolls arrive nude and bald. Users can then either make or purchase clothing, wigs, eyes, etc. Many asian ball joint dolls come with face plates for changing expressions, optional hands, feet, and more. The hobby is expensive ranging anywhere from 100-2,000 or more for a single doll, but it is well worth it. Dolls arrive typically in a natural unpainted state. For extra you can commission a "face up" or try to paint your own (more fun that way.) The dolls do not go down in value so they are essentially an invenstment as you can almost always sell them for what you bought them for, plus whatever you've put into them:). Many companies have exclusive limited molds. Some molds are as limited as 12 in the entire world before the mold is broken. They come in many sizes, tinies, minis, and super dolfies. you can visit den of angels for more information and photos. A few popular manufacturers include volks, luts, serendipity, doll in mind, dream of doll, and dollzone.

Hi xenokitten. Welcome to mylot. It's the first time I have heard about this asian ball joint dolls. I am interested on it because they are highly cusomizeable. Do you have any idea how much it cost and where can they be bought? I think my little girl will like it. My apprehension is that there is now a "lead" scare issue on kids toys in Asia. Remember the market pull-out of Mattel on their toys made in China. I hope this one is safe for kids.

To be honest, these are not children's toys. Even though the resin is more durable than say porcelain, they are still not the best bet for a "little girl". They are very expensive. The cheap ones start around $100. The more rare models/more expensive molds/more well known companies can often go for as much as $2,000 usd. It is a very expensive hobby, and is more geared towards adults and older more considerate children who know how to take better care of their "toys". I got both of mine from the junkyspot (thejunkyspot.com i believe or junkyspot.com) Denofangels.com is a good site for general information and links to other stores to order from etc. They also have a user market place and sometimes someone will be selling an older doll for fairy cheap. Goodluck and thanks for the welcome.

Wow, this is the first time I hear about this but first of all I must say your two dolls looks amazing*_* I mean their faces, I didn't see the rest:P The fact you can customize them as you want is great as well, but I would have very hard time deciding in what direction to go with the look-_- Anyway, I think this is a wonderful hobby and once again I say your dolls are simply beautiful*_*
