Finding Comfort, Nature is the Way

Often times we need to find ways to bring our troubled minds peace. Life can be filled with turmoil and we need to get away and leave it behind. Taking a walk on a sandy beach is the best way to leave your worries behind. Close your eyes and listen to the waves of the ocean rushing to shore and the haunting sounds of the seagulls that fly overhead. Walking in the woods on a crisp autumn day is invigorating. The fallen leaves crunch and whirl at your feet. The squirrels, chipmunks and other wildlife are busy with their tasks of gathering food for the long winter months and can often be seen running along the forest. The sun warms the crisp air and sends a euphoric feel to the day. Sitting along a babbling brook and gazing into the water as it courses over rocks and fallen branches is delightful. In the summertime it is wonderful to wade in the shallows and let the water cool your feet. Walking outside while the snow is falling is heavenly. Turn your head to the sky and catch a snowflake on your tongue. The snow crunches beneath your feet. The icy flakes stick to your face and quickly melt from your warmth. Focus on the flakes as they slowly drift downward. For a moment there is only peacefulness. Nature is full of things that bring comfort. We need only to use our senses to enjoy them.

I love nature. I have 2 large bird feeders as well as 2 finch feeders and several humming bird ones. I love to watch their antics. They are like friends now. It is so funny each morning when I go out to fill them because within minutes here they all come. It is like they are saying "It's about time". I have to fill them each morning because the squirrls and racoons like them too. One afternoon I looked out and there were 4 baby raccoons in the largest one andt the mother sat on the deck and watched out for them while they ate. We had one very large one that came every night last year and would come right up to the door. We would leave the screen shut and sit on the floor and talk to him while he ate. Sometimes he would stand up on the door and chatter back at us like he knew exactly what we were talking about. I am going to try to add the picture of the babies in the bird feeder. Hope it works. they are my way of enjoying the nature all around me. My special friends.

I am finding that I am needing to get some priorities straight in my life, so I can relax more. Walking even the streets in my town is pretty invigorating and relaxing at the same time. I get to see fat squirrels playing and beautiful trees and some really beautiful yards. I am glad hubby has a better job for us now, I just need to have some time off as well so I can enjoy it with him. We are having a lot of wind today, which is also a big part of nature in Kansas. Things seem to be pretty good. Focusing on the things outside of ourselves is peaceful.

Nature - Cool and beautiful scene.
Yes. I love nature too. I keep on admiring the wonderful works of God. Wherever we cast our eyes we see the beauty of nature, no one can create such amazing creations.

What a beautiful way of putting one's love of nature...You have seen and described the beauty of all aspects of nature ..earth, wind, air fire and the seasons all combined. I too love nature which is why I'm a nature photographer...I like the idea that when I have a camera, I'm capturing a moment in time that will never happen again...I can look at one of my photos of a monarch butterfly on a dahlia and realize that flower and butterfly are long gone but through my photography, it's captured forever..Both my photography and photographing nature in general are my forms of celebrating nature and giving me my bliss.

Indeed. For me, usually just being outside on the porch just looking at the surroundings is enough. There are also parks, woods, and other areas I can go to so I can really enjoy nature. And yes, all of the seasons really bring alot to the picture. Its lovely.

I do not like the snow, and I do not like the cool weather, and I am not that fond of autumn. I am a walk in the spring and summer, look at all the gardens, go in the park sort of person. I live in a city, and not in the country. We do not need to go out into the woods to commune with nature. I have a bunch of sparrows who are nested above our front door, we have a rabbit who lives in our backyard or rather his descendant, we have a whole lot of ravens, robins, and crows that converge on our apple tree, we have a dove who lives across the street, we have some Canada geese who live near the new houses that are almost us, and near the green park before the main shopping area. If I get up early enough, I might see a fox, there are a few fir trees in the neighborhood and a few squirrels. But I would never never enjoy nature if I had to catch snowflakes on my tongue. I want someplace warm, with trees, and hills and a shopping center in the distance. I will find my comfort my way, at Church communing with God.

I absolutely agree with you, Elusive. There's nothing so great as getting out and experiencing all that nature has to offer. That is the one reason I long for the place where I grew up and spent my early adult years. There was lots of wide open space and plenty to see and enjoy. I hate living in the city because you miss out on much of what nature has to offer.

I am completely on your side. When I was yonger, I was asked by my classmates a question. If there are 2 kinds of buildings for me, the villadom and the country house, as the city and the countryside, which I would choose to live. My answer is the country.I know many peole like to work in the city, and spend the holiday or live in the surban area. But I am totally want to live in the country area, as I think I am closer to the nature, and I can be far away from these troubles. Maybe it's an escape like a croward. I just want it.
