I turn on a few of my friends. And I alternate. Some I keep on all the time, and some I'll have on for a while, then trade out with other friends. Some of my friends who don't start many will stay on just so I can catch the one's they do start. Everyone seems to have SO MANY friends, I wonder if anyone turns them all on? How do you decide who gets turned on and who is turned off?

WOW, and you have 181 friends!! So how many e-mail notifications do you usually end up with a day? Do you check them daily? I only get on 4 nights a week when I am working at the hotel.

I keep all my friend notifications on, so I get a lot of notifications of their discussions. It doesn't bother me though. Not everyone posts discussions on the same day. Some friends aren't that active, and if they haven't been on in 2 months, I usually delete them. So while I get a whole lot of discussions, not every one is something I know I can answer and add something. So it works out. I just don't want to miss out on good discussions by not having the notifications on. I think it's best too look at our friend's discussions first anyway. Before a person starts answering everyone else's. I kind of think that is the point of having friends. You know you have a good chance of getting good discussions to answer to. And I would hope my friends would consider the discussions I have posted before searching for new ones to read.

I spend so much time going through my friend's discussions and commenting in my own, that I don't answer very many other discussions. The only time I do is if I see an interesting one at the bottom of a page I'm on. Otherwise, I never go to the main discussion page.

I don't turn them on for any of my friends, because I come to mylot far more often than I check my email. In fact, I've been known to go days without checking my email if I'm not specifically expecting something important, so mylot messages are a far easier way for people from here to get in touch with me.
I know a lot of people who use the email notifications, but I just think it would flood my inbox, and since I come here as soon as I get online, it wouldn't really do any good. I'm such a mylot addict. =P

Yeah, good piont. I used to never bother with the notifications either, but I am kinda liking it more. But I do miss a lot of my friends' discussions who aren't turned on. So maybe I should turn more of them on.

Hhhmmm. Getting that way here too. I love getting mail though, and emails are just as good! lol. I love the fact that my opinions are valid and I like seeing when people have added comments to my discussions or have replied to comments I have left. Sure, I could do what you do, but having 4 kids means my brain can't keep track! lol.

Haha, that's the problem, using the brain! If I used my brain more, I might not spend so much time here. =P
Eh, Transdisc, I must have just missed you. I was kind of on and off yesterday, but I went to bed right before you made your comment I think. Was waiting for you to IM me, instead of the other way around. It's okay, maybe we can talk sometime today.

No, I did not turn on notification mails. I find it a little bit waste of time and I also dont open my email add that often. I just Scan around when I logged in here. First, discussion my friends started where I response to every discussion that I can see, then my interest, I sccn them one by one again, lastly todays top discussion. I did it that way. I find it more comfortable that way.

That's kinda what I was worried about. I don't want my inbox to blow up, or get clogged so that nothing else can come through. I guess I will find out now. Cuz after tonight, I won't be back on until next Wed night...

Each to their own. If you got lots of friends, then probably not practical. Me, only 2 so far, so don't mind how many emails.

I am a highly opinionated person, though not stuck up, just got my own voice, and I love adding my opinions. I try to respond to all responses and comments and are definitely up for recieving the notification for all. Even this if you respond! lol. Being a writer, I have a drive to not keep my hands idle, and this place is a great outlet for it. Ok, so there are times I am not here, but I will log in if I receive an email notification and keep my responses up to date! lol. i only have 2 friends, being a newbie, so I have the time to respond to all.

If I get more than one discussion I think is something I'd rather not read or even know about, I will turn them off or even delete them as friends. I try to keep the garbage to a minimum! LOL. And, I go in from time to time and delete those who haven't logged in for several months.

Yes there is a certain point in my life when I experienced being very depressed. That was the time when my former husband had an affair with another woman. That really hurts, first because family is very important to me, second, I love him very much. I recover when on my part I did my very best to save our marriage, I've given him all the understanding that he needs, I've been a very good friend to the time taht I believe he's the one hurting me. I recovered when I open my eyes, and realize that I have given the best that I can give, and actually there is nothing more left in me that I can give. I realize that its time to let go and move on with my life. I wont regret anything because I know that i have given my very best to make things worst... but then the man that I love is no longer mine.
I believe that you will recover if you see things in different perspectives. YOu can seek the advice of your friends, but you have to weigh things and decide for yourself. There are times that letting go and moving on then hoping that something better is waiting is the best way we can do. Right now, I realized that HE has a better plan for me. He have given me the best that I never imagine I would have. And that is because I keep my faith on HIM.

I turned off All my email notifications from the beginning. I didn't realize until yesterday that you can turn them off and on individually. I think I'm going to go back and turn a few on.

I turn my e-mail notifications, too! Because checking my e-mail is the first thing I do with my computer. And it really consumes a lot of space. But I just want to look how busy my friends are with myLot and also look into the discussions I have responded to and where there replies. Then I erase them all, so my e-mail won't get cluttered.

I have them all on. When I was out of town for 5 days I did turn some of the most prolific off, but most of the time, since I can check my mail several times a day, I have them all on.
That is not to say I will respond to them all, and some I don't read all the way because as soon as I get a bit into them, I see its a subject I'm not interested in & stop. Those are all long discussions tho.
Hey - under 50 until you get the copy/paste fuction! Congrats!!!
