I half to go and have one Saturday. Can you tell me about them, a few people have told me, shall I be worried about anything? they say they put you in this long big thing, with your heard sticking out, and you half to stay in there and don't move, It is like a Xray I guess, anyway that will tell the story aout what is going on with My knee. I am always in pain, I am taking Therapy for the last month. I am still having trouble. So the Doctor said if you are having problems, come back to see me and we will schedule an MRI? Worried? well I am. Ok, I will be back.

I had one done on my leg and I was able to have an open MRI. You should be able to have one too, since it is your knee. Ask your doctor for a Cortizone shot in your knee. I have tendenitis in my knee. It was so sore that a tap had me wailing in pain. One shot, cleared it up immediately. I got the shot seven years ago.
My roommate just got two in both knees last week. She was in so much pain that every time she moved, she would cry out. She has Arthritis. A few hours after the shot, she was telling everyone that there was no more pain. She is still pain free today. I do not know why more doctors don't do these shots.

No don't worry ..it is like an xray I haven't had one of those ones that you go in with your head but I had a friend I went to see ..she is a radiographer and I spent one day with ehr in the Hospital and she showed me around and different types of xray machines and stuff. It was quite an eye opener. They have a tough job but but very good pay.

I havent had an MRI but my dad has had one and I was in the room when he had it done. Its just a matter of lying still for 20-30 minutes and not letting the noise or the cramped space getting on your nerves. Just relax and let it get over. Do not concentrate on the noises that come or the space around you. Most places will also play some music or keep you distracted.
All the best and hope you get better soon!

I have had a couple of them done. The easiest way is to close your eyes and relax. Its not going to hurt. They dont want you moving so they can get an acurate picture of whats wrong. The machine will make funny sounds but its ok, it wont break or come crashing down on you. I hope all goes well!!

I had experienced pain on my knee which I discovered that such pain was the result of my low red blood circulation, thus, the veins were stiff. How about taking vitamins with iron? Have a good rest and sleep, eat bananas, stretch your leg slowly, massage your loins and you will feel some veins are stiff in that area. Do it by yourself. This is an example of accupressure.

You really don't need to worry. I had an MRI done on my foot. My feet were the only part of me that was in it. So, if you need you knee done, you will only go in to cover your knees. The rest of you will not be in the machine. They gave me headphones and asked what kind of music I wanted to listen to. The machine is rather noisy and the music drowned it out pretty good. It took me 40 minutes for the MRI to be complete. Good luck, let us know how you make out.

I had one when I had a lot of bleeding down below. It does not hurt and I had my eyes closed all the time. So I cannot tell you what it was like because I did not see anything. However I watch House and I see the doctors doing it all the time, so I guess you have nothing to worry about. I thought of it as my having a nice rest.

I get MRIs done regularly on my head. It is a bit uncompfortable but as far as tests go, it is nothing to worry about. There is a loud noise every few seconds, you do have to keep still, (one time I started sneezing in the middle of it, they stopped the test, pulled me out and then just restarted), just wear comfortable clothing without metal on it, bring some sweats or something to wear unless you want to wear a hospital gown.
I had one done on my knee as well...piece of cake...seemed to me it was done in a just a few minutes...but I could be wrong.

I had an MRI scan last month and will get my results on the 31st. It was very uncomfortable lying in a metal tube, totally immobile for half an hour and I was glad to get out of it at the end. At least I should find out on the 31st if anything is seriously wrong.

Hey Marcie, I never had an MRI done, but I will say a prayer for you. Thanks so much for your prayers for my mom, her surgery went well. Hey our old buddy Chunkers started a discussion, he said to tell you hi. If you can't find him on your profile page, you can always go to my profile and look in the part for discussions I have responded too, you will be able to find him then. I told him we miss him.

I have had quite a few of them and the first time I was so scared they had to give me a tranquilizer. Now they dont bother me just ask for a tranquilizer if you are really nervous as you have to stay still. Good Luck!

I just had the procedure done a few weeks ago. When the original x-ray didn't show enough information I was sent for the MRI. I laid on the table with a set of headphones on & took a nap till they told me they were done( you have to ignore the loud humming of the machine ). The MRI allowed the doc to rule out any major problems. The next week we went in for the exploratory surgery with the camra ( I forget what its called ). They found the problems & fixed them right there. We found out there were 4 torn pieces of cartalidge & some malformations & arthritis. Its been a few weeks now. There's still about as much pain & discomfort today as before the surgery but the knee is continuing to improve daily so it looks promising.
I hope everything goes well with you.

Yes, I have had one done before. I had one done when I was having dizzy spells. There isn't anything to it. It doesn't hurt. It just lets them see what a x-ray can't show.
