Personally, I love houses. I live with my parents in a house and I'm dreaming about having one when I'm going to move in with my boyfriend. It's just great that you can have the space you need, you don't have to worry about neighbours too much, you can have a garden in front of the house where you can relax or have a barbecue with your friends. This is what I like.
What about you?
Where would you prefer to live: in a flat or in a house? Please state your reasons.

Right now I prefer living in an apt 'coz it's cheaper that way. We don't have to tend to the garden, rake the dry leaves, or get rid of the thick snow ourselves.
However, when we have our own kids later on, it'd be better if we can have our own house. I love having my own space. In the far future, I definitely wish I'll have my own house.

A house needs a lot more work and care than a flat because, as you said, you have to take care of everything that surrounds it. It's hard, but I like it. And even if it sounds weird, I love removing the snow from the alley.

Hey, it's GREAT that you enjoy cleaning the snow from your alley. It's good exercise plus it must be nice to have your own house. ;-D

I totally go with a house compared to an apartment/flat. because living in a house you have your privacy and space of your own, you can plant anything you want in the spare garden, you can park as many cars as you want and you can entertain as many visitors as they can fit with no interruption from neighbors.

Thanks for sharing your opinion. :)

Yes, indeed, living in a house implies much more responsabilities than living in a flat, but I think it's worth the effort.

I prefer to have a house too!
Having enough space just for ourselft, no interruption to outside or from inside to out side...
I can't believe it, you love garden too? I like to have a garden in my house so that I could plant some fruits and vegetables. It will saves money to buy such foods in the market. When I have that, I feel relax and barbeque? You've gave me an idea...
You see, when I have a house, I can wash my car without not interupting other's stuff...
conclusion: I prefer a house than a flat...

I lived in a flat before I married my other half. He' in the army and we got maried quarters when we moved to Germany and I was keeping my fingers and toes crossed that we would get a house and we ended up getting a second floor flat. I was absolutely devestated! We have a large (ish) balcony so we can still do the outdoorsy thing. To be honest, now I'm here, I have trouble keeping this flat tidy, so I would be hopeless in a house so for that I'm thankful!

I am a little untidy myself and having a house is a true problem for me too, but I'll try to be tidier and I hope I'll be able to keep a whole house in order...:)

I prefer living in a house but unfortuntely i do not have the money to do so. I have experience living in my cousin house and i loved it. It is much bigger and can plant many plants. I also do not have to hear my neighbout scolding her children.

Except for my three first years of life, I've always lived in a flat, so I have to "imagine" the advantages of living in a house: sitting at the back garden to enjoy the nice weather, having more privacy, barbecueing... One always thinks that houses are bigger than flats, but there are also big and comfortable flats. The advantages of flats are that they are cheaper than houses if you don't want to live far from where you work. Another advantage is that they are safer than houses, as it's more difficult for a burglar to break a window in a seventh or eighth floor or to tip toe into the building without being seen. So I think I will say that I prefer to live in a flat, as I've always done.

definitely house... i don't like living in a flat as it is too small and limited space... also, when we live in a flat, we live too near with each other and hence not too much privacy... i thank God that i just managed to buy a house with my hubby about 3 months ago and it is the decision that we never regret...

I lived in a flat, or an apartment, with my family for a very long time, then at 29 I bought my own house because I was sick of not being able to paint or hang pictures where I wanted, etc. It was quite the achievement for me, and I love being able to come home to my own lil corner of the world.

I currently live in a house and enjoy it. I love the privacy. Still, I do prefer living in an apartment. When you own a house you have to take care of the lawn and look of the house which can be a hassle. For people who don't have a whole lot of time to dedicate to a house, apartments are a better choice. I like the fact that in an apartment if something goes wrong I could call the management building and they will have people out in a few hours to a day to fix the air conditioning, dishwasher and anything else. I also like the fact that in an apartment I wouldn't be responsible for any leaky roofs or water damage. Those are some real concerns since I do live in Florida and there is always the threat of a hurricane.

I prefer flats. Herein india nowadays due to no free spaces for individual homes due to high price. As a office goer it is easy to live in flat because every maintenence is doin by the promoter itself without any burdens even washing parking and toiles. Also fool proof security devices and men. Lots of cooperation from neighbours . If festivity lots of fun and plays. Really fantastic providing you mus be good earner for money.

For me, I prefer flat to house. Of course, house is bigger and looks better than flat. And most houses have a garden, even a swimming pool, how nice it is!
But I have to admit that I'm lazy sometimes. I will detest housework. So if I have to clean the house everyday, how tired I will be! But flat is not so big, I can clean it daily. Of course, I like a little big flat. Haha

All my childhoos I was living in house. And I love that.We have big garden, two balkonies, porch and it is so nice to relax there or grill or just inite some friends. You just have your privacy there and I feel in the house more free.I am living right now in apartman with my fiancee , btu i hope one day we could have a house and I can have my own garden and just invite friends.I just like that privacy, here in apartman complex it is much different.

I prefer houses as they have more room than flats (apartments). I really like having a backyard and room for flowers. There is no privacy when you live in a flat/apartment. You alos have to worry about the noise above or below you. We have a firepit down by the stream in our backyard. You certainly can't have that freedom with a flat/apartment!

For me a house would win hands down!..flats are wonderful..but if you have kids you need to `keep the noise down` for the neighbours, more so than in a house.
You have separate floors to sleep on..much better!
To me living on one level is `noisier` altogether!!
