When I was a kid, I used to love to sit in front of my Mom's dressing table mirror and imagined that there was my other self in the mirror world. She looked just like me but we lived in different worlds. I used to imagine talking to her and she'd reply to me. It was sort of like an inner conversation, but my mind turned it into a two-way conversation between me and my other self in the mirror. I never named her, though. All I knew was that I was having fun talking to her ha ha ha ha...I used to start talking by asking her about her day and her life he he he...
How about you? Did you have any imaginary friend? Any other creative ideas that your mind created when you were a kid?

I like your topic a lot. Yeah, I do have an imaginary friend. And believe it or not, till now she still does exist in my mind:) When I was a kid, I have always dreamed of having a sister. But God never permitted it. Instead He gave us a BABY BOY, that's my younger brother. I really do appreciate my brother's presence in our family because he has added so much color in our HOME. Since I am only human, I was never contented. I still want a sister, so what I did is just imagine, imagine, and imagine that I do have one. It is quite funny but I am actually doing it. I always imagine that I do have a twin sister as what I have always dreamed of. That wherever I go, she goes to.. we share all the girl stuff we have, and most of all share secrets that concerns our love life heheh(as if I have a love life)!

Oh yes...I had many imaginary friends and my Mom accepted that they were not just imaginary...but actual spiritual allies from another realm. As long as I stayed grounded and had a wide circle of 'real' friends in my everyday life...she never pooh-poohed' their existence.
My mother's father was Welsh and the 7th son of a 7th son...and evidently has the gift of 'second sight.' Mom inherited a lot of that from him and was a gifted clairvoyant do the idea of imaginary friends that may have been spiritual allies or power animals was not a big reach for her...and consequently me. She had strong Celtic roots and understood the spiritual/energetic connection within everything in creation. Having some Irish in her ancestry she believed in the very real existence of faeries and 'little' people and sometimes I have a strong sense of their presence in our garden. Especially in the very early morning...or around dusk.
So your friend in the mirror doesn't sound strange to me at all. Many mystics believe that mirrors are an energy portal to other realms. So who knows...maybe she really was there...and you were talking to an energy being from the other side.
This is a great topic Ailema...of course I love to chat about all things metaphysical because both David and I live within an energy based framework and see the material world as more of the real illusion.
Thanks for creating a fun and interesting discussion. Good to be chatting with you here as well. See, I told you I'd drop by as time permits...and I look forward to more of that again.
So long for now...and happy imaging! LOL

Yes...mirrors are considered portals...so it is probably a good thing you didn't climb behind it or into it...one psychic told me that he heard of a person whose spirit left the body, went into the mirror and got trapped there until he came to guide her back.
There are many from mystics, psychics and those who study physics that there are many unseen energetic realms...it is a fascinating subject...and glad you created a chance to share more about our experiences.
We'll keep in touch...so long for now.

Hi, Raia!
Brrrr...it's scary to have your spirit trapped inside the mirror!!! It reminds me of an episode of Friday the 13th TV series.
THANKS for the info. I've never really known much about the realm of the mystics he he he he...Indeed it's a fascinating subject. :-)))

Hi, Raia!
Ahhhh...interesting info. So you had lots of imaginary friends? Yeah...I understood that your Mom wanted you to have a balanced life and to have real friends too he he he...So she was a gifted clairvoyant? Fascinating!!!
Fairies? I've watched a movie about this. I've also been fascinated by fairies he he he he...
I don't know much about mystics. So they believe that mirrors are an energy portal to other realms, eh? COOL!
THX for sharing. And yes, looking forward to talking to you again here he he he...

No imaginary friends - not permanant, but my brother and my best friend used to play pretend games. And we'd create characters for ourselves, and lives - careers - adventures. Sometimes our characters would meet, sometmes not. I also played on my own as well. We likely could've written interesting short stories. It was sad when around 12 years old we realized we couldn't immerse ourselves as fully in the games. Just like - although I still adore movies - but I don't become as much a part of the movie - I'm aware of both the character - and the actor - and the other moviegoers - chaknow?

Yes, and I guess then that 'grew up' in that way when I was 12 because it was then that I could no longer immerse myself as well.............don't worry about not answering in a timely matter - I'm so way behind on mind. There are a couple of your replies that I've read and still want to respond to! And I have to go back and find the links to your blog so I can read about your move to Finland and you and your husband and stuffs.

Hi, Amy!
Sorry it took some time before I replied here. I seemed to have opened this already before, but I must've been in a hurry so I missed replying it.
Pretend games, eh? COOL!!! Yeah, I know what you mean about not being able to immerse yourselves fully in the pretend games. I guess when you grow up, it "ain't no fun" anymore to pretend he he he he...At least not as fun as when you were kids.

Hi, Amy!
So you grew up when you were 12, eh? I don't remember when exactly I did that hmmmm...I think I can still be immersed in myself until late teen years. I haven't really thought about it, but it's a good topic of conversation. ;-D
He he he...yeah, I know what you mean about falling behind. Sometimes I comment and open up new discussions and the next morning I find 50 emails in my mailbox and I freak out ha ha ha ha...

Interesting discussion topic.
I didn't have an imaginary friend...I did, however, have my own world that I would talk to. I used to imagine there was a whole either world inside my closet. I didn't go in there because it was small and crowded, but there was a whole other world there.
I used to imagine all sorts of things and have my own worlds every day.
Heck, I'm all grown up and I still have my own world.

Hi Ailema4ever. Well, sad to say that, I don't have any time for my imaginary when I was a kid. Most of the times I will be studying and beside studying, I was still studying. Haha. I will actually take the imaginary time for sleeping after a long day through struggling for studies. Haha.

I always thought that I was creative when I was a kid, but didn't remember if ever I had an imaginary friend.
My creativity was noticed after holding a pencil and was drawing images of anything I can think of, like men made out of stick bodies and a bubble. I also tried copying voices, when watching my favorite kiddie shows back then -with Sesame Street's "Ernie" and "Kermit the frog" as my favorite to mimic.
As I grew my curiosity becamse more wider, from learning musical instruments to singing songs that I loved listening too.

Hi, raijin!
Ahhh...so you were more creative in those areas then: drawing. I've never been good at drawing, so probably that was why I had an imaginary friend instead ha ha ha...
Copying voices? I LOVE people who can copy voices. SPLENDID!!! You're quite an artist, aren't you? First you draw, then you copy voices, then you learn musical instruments and sing songs. WOW!!!! Are you an artist now???? What do you do for a living?

I was creative, not dillusional. I drew pictures, made paintings, made my Barbies act out deep, dramatic stories and I read a LOT. I read most of the time as a child. I never left the house without a book, I read all the time.
I never understood why kids had "imaginary friends", though. Hell, I never understood most of the things kids did, I still don't understand it. Oh well.

Mirror does not tell lie. Mirror used to tell that, how are you looking like. But on an other hand, you imagined that the mirror is not reflecting you, she is some one else in front of you. You imagined that the girl sitting or standing in the mirror world is some one different but looks like you. This is strange and relates to such age when people do not know that what is a mirror and what is purpose of using mirror.
A child came to his grand father and complained that the boy sitting in water pot took my coin. The grand father went to see the boy sitting in the water pot. The pot was filled with water. There was no boy. He saw his of face reflecting by the water surface just as mirror does. He shouted with anger “shame to you old man, why did you stole the coins from my little grand son!!!” he he. Leave out off the world of imaginations.
Become a personality of real world. This world is more beautiful than imaginary world.

I once thought that the person in the mirror is another live person, just imitating what I do, or he thinks I am HIS reflection. I did some experiments, like moving very fast, hoping he could not imitate me, but I failed. I thought that if that person really is a person, why is there a friction when I rub my fingers on the mirror? After that idea came to my mind, I stopped believing that that person is also alive. Yes, I've had an imaginary friend, to be specific, an imaginary younger brother. I'm the youngest in our family, that's why I created my own brother in my mind when I was young. When I was young, I am a shy type kid, that's why I don't have much friends, and because of that, I've created my own friends from objects that are not alive, like my power rangers action figures, stress balls, and robots. I talked to them in a telepathic manner. It is really fun reminiscing one's younger years.

Hello ailema4ever,
I don't have any childhood imaginary friend but I remember clearly to see my niece talked to her imaginary group of people. She was just four years old that time and her mother sent her to a kindergarten just to learn and spend time with friends. Whenever she is at home, she will spend most of her time in her room. One day, I peeped through the door and saw her talking to her 'pupils'. She acted like a teacher - maybe she saw how her kindergarten teacher acted when she taught her there. She called out names of her students, one by one, while marking on a piece of paper (bet she took the attendance of the students) I told my sister (her mother) about it and she was asking me back whether it was some kind of 'super natural' things *laughs*

Plus talking to yourself is good. I mean, you've gotta be able to be your own best friend, so it's good to enjoy having a conversation with yourself IMO. I do that a lot, too. ;-D THX for sharing! ;-D
