Into Space Again

As a child growing up in the 60's I was fascinated with the Space program. Even to this day I still get goose bumps about space flight. Well at 10:30 CDT the Space Shuttle lifted off again. It was launched with 6,425,000 pounds of thrust to get it into orbit. I've watched so many launches of various expolarations into space since childhood. My favorite mission has to be when man landed on the moon the first time. There's about 12 % of Americans that still don't feel we ever landed on the moon. Do you believe we landed and walked on the moon? Good luck to the Discovery Crew.

Yes I do believe men landed and walked on the moon.. but personally, if it was up to, I wouldn't waste the money.. Instead of seeling a place to after we wreck this place (which wouldn't work anyway) we could invest more into new and cleaner technologies here on good ole planet earth..
- It's exciting tho.. just too bad it costs so much.. It's a dream though is what it is.. I think inherently man knows other planets will come to life.. in the eternities.. (all the other planets?)
:) yes, I'm serious..

But with every mission of the Shuttle we advance our technological studies further. That's the main reason for these missions. Think of all the tests etc they perform while in space. They do a lot more than just fly around up there. HAHAHA!! Thanks also for the response.

My brother is actually an areospace engineer that designed part of the shuttle. Before he retired he got to go many times and eat breakfast with the astronauts...and we as his family got to tour the plant in Mpls where alot of the parts were made..Rosemount Engineering. They are no longer there but he shared many of his experiences visiting with the crews.....I do believe we landed and walked on the moon.

Cool deal. Now I can say I know someone kind of that designed
the Shuttle. HAHAHAHA!!! I had met John Glenn way back in the
late 60's at a convention or something for NASA in Detroit.

I certainly believe that we landed on the moon. I watched it on TV. In south Australia, all schools were closed when the Moon landing occurred, so that we could all watch it.
I have never forgotten that event.
There are other Space Shuttle orbits I remember too.
I wasn't aware there was another recent space shuttle orbit.
Space Shuttles get a fair bit of media coverage here, as one of the previous astronaghts is from my city, Adelaide. His name is Andrew Thomas.

Oh, yes! When I was a kid, I wanted to be an astronaut..something girls did not think about then. I hope someday space travel is common place.
And yes I believe that we landed on the moon.
I was watching the Challenger lift off, when I was pregnant and over due...it was one of the worse moments I had being home waiting to have my son. Someone gave him a jacket with a rocketship on it when he was born..he never wore it.

Well like you I'm totally into space and space travel. The biggest thing that excites me about space is the though of man landing on Mars and setting up base. I think this would be man's greatest accomplishment if we made it there. I'm not talking robots or camera operated toys but a man. As for man landing on the moon, well there's been a lot of stories around that but I have read many articles that states that the US government made the whole thing up to make Russia at the time believe we have beaten them into space mean while it turns out the first person in space was a Russia astronaut in the 1960's. Who really knows right? It's like the whole JFK thing its a mystery we will probably never get a straight answer for or solve.. The only thing that could prove the whole man on the moon thing is to send back another person to the original landing area and see if the old landing rover is still there or any signs that someone had been there before. I know after 40-50 years things would have change on the moon but there must be some sign of evidence that man was there before you would think.

Ohhh the moon landing will be the same type of controversy like the Kennedy Assasination is and still is 44 years later. I recall being in Catholic Grade School when JFK was shot. Being as he was a Roaman Catholic the nuns brought in TV sets for all students to watch. My God I was only 9 years old. I didn't need this jammed down my throat. Hahahaha! Anyhow thanks for the response.

Heh, I think you guys would like my Colonizing the Sol System discussion. I do see it as a long run deal. As for the question of the moon, maybe real evidence in a return mission is needed.

I think the moon rocks brought back were enough evidence for me.

Ive always liked space and space travel,Last year i went to NASA in Florida,I spent a long day there walking, talking, ooking, and taking pictures. I watched several videos of Space travel when it first began and im going to be keeping up with this as i have a small video collection of some of discovery's first flights.-Joe Dirt

I heard about that today that this was the first time I think that they send 2 women out into space. I didnt get to watch lift off live on tv because I was at work. For some reason I didnt really care because it seems like every couple of months there going up to the shuttle system. If it was to the moon or to mars then I would be really exited about it and cant wait for that time we go to mars.

Plus they have another module for the ISS. So they are going to
be adding a room basically to the International Space Station.

I agree, it is amazing that we're able to orbit into space and land on the moon. What even more amazing is how the astronaunts are able to handle the thrust of that much of a push to get them up and out. That's a heck of a lot of thrust!! However I have to say too that it's sad that we know more about the moon than we do about our ocean's floor. I'd love to see more tv progams on the ocean for there are a lot of unknown creatures (weird looking ones too!) still to be discovered.
BTW, my mother falls in the 12% catagory, she does not believe any body landed on the moon and refuses to believe it. The same goes with aliens, she doesn't believe in them either whereas my dad does very much so. As for me, I'm open minded. I'm not saying either way. I do believe we've landed on the moon.

I like the title "UFO". It's so vast and varied what can be classified as a UFO. A lens cover for a camera flying in the wind can be called a UFO if the person has no idea what it is right? HAHAHAHA!!
