Do you skip discussions where best response was chosen too fast?

When you first read a discussion, if you see that the person who started it, chose the first person who responded, even if it's just a one line response, do you skip over it, and move on to the next discussion, or do you still leave a response? Boy, that was mouthful. As for me, it really depends on the discussion, if I feel like I have something to add, I will respond. There are times where I feel it's useless as the person who wrote the discussion my not even take the time to read other responses. It does bother me though. When I was still getting familiar with the site, there were discussions where one of the first people that responded had a great response so I would go ahead and choose them. Now I try to wait a few weeks, or until I get a certain number of responses. How about you, do you skip discussions where best response was chosen too fast?

No, I don't. I participate discussions not for the goal of getting the "best response". In fact, since I joined mylot, never had the experience of receiving the best response...

I don't reply just to get the best response either, I just don't know if the one who started the discussion and marks the best response quickly, even looks at the new responses. I will still respond, I just didn't know if others skip them. You mentioned that you haven't had the experience of receiving best response...if you look to the left there is a link to see "my best responses", you do have a few.

No, I don't skip it but it is noticable and I often ask myself "what for it was given?". I don't uderstand how can one choose best response after few minutes ofposting discussion. As for me I wait until I feel that nobody responds anymore (2-3 days, sometimes a week) and then give the best response mark but only if i feel someone rally deserve it.

I've looked at some responses that were marked the best and wondered why it was chosen. There have been some I have noticed that were the first response made, and it appears that they were posted close to the same time, and even if it was short or didn't have much to do with the subject, it was chosen, I just didn't understand. I try to make sure that when I choose my best responses they are just that, some times, I wish I could choose more than one.

Most of the time I still respond although if it is a discussion which would take me some time to post a quality response then I don't bother.

No, I don't even bother to check if the Best Response has already been chosen. I don't have time for that.
My of my responses are to notifications I receive, & if I get to them within days, it is likely that best responses have already been chosen.
I wouldn't care anyone, as having a best response makes no difference to our earnings, I believe.

Nah, I still answer the discussions if I find they are interesting or if I need to put my two cents in hahahaa! I try to wait awhile to get a few responses and when I see that the responses have slowed then I will make my decision. I do see what your saying though.

Hi Gapeach65.
Well, to be frank I don't read every discussion. So, if it happened that I open it up, which mean I am interested in that particular discussion. Hence, I will response to the discussion which I am interested in. So, I am not really care whether is it the discussion has a best response already or not.
However, I do admit there are times I will open up a discussion and end up by closing the discussion without responding it but it's not because of the best response was chosen. Haha.
Have a nice day!

sometimes i feel like it was not that fair to pick a Best Response while the discussion is still fresh but everybody is entitle to their own opinion. i still response as long as i know what they are talking about.

I will respond to a discussion based on interest. I really don't notice the best response. I do not like it when someone has been so quick to denote a best response. If I start a discussion and haven't seen any responses beyond one, after about a month, I will give that response best response. I mean if there has only been one post, at least they responded.
One thing I have noted though is it gives a time when it was posted, but not when best response was given. I think that would help alot.

I dont bother about, if BR's are given are not, but go on responding hthe discussion that really interests me.
Regarding giving bestrespones so fast, yesterday i saw one of my friends starting a topic, and within 30 minutes of its start, she gave the best response, for one and only response that the discussion received at the time.
I fear that she had started the discussion for giving her the BR.

In all fairness, sometimes the best answer was chosen from the first or second answer because there was such a lapse in time. Unlike other sites, mylot questions don't really tell you at what time compared to the asking of the question did the respondents answer. I waited for days to have an answer to some of my questions. I could see when someone first starts they would be eager to tag someone a best response. Heck, most of my questions do not have any responses so in the future when someone looks at them, they will probably see that the first or second person got the BR (when I actually get answers) because some of the questions are from months ago and then I was happy to finally get some type of answer.
I don't tend to skip things that already have a best answer but sometimes I do feel that people are no longer checking it so if I say something, I pretty much know no one is going to jump in and continue the conversation along with me. But that's okay.
