Hello there. I am actually feeling very sleepy now. It's 12:10am where I am now. I slept very late and woke up very early the previous day and hence I am feeling very tired and sleepy now. Due to my sleepiness, it suddenly occur to me 'What's the Longest Time you have been through without Sleeping?' For me, the answer is 36 hours. I was feeling very sad on one particular night a few years ago and I could not go to sleep. The next day, I had school and only reached home around evening time. I fell asleep immediately after my bath. I was feeling so tired on the second day that I felt as if I was not living. I feel like I am in a trance. LOL Do share your experience with me.=D Thanks.

When I was about 14 I wanted to see how long I could go without sleeping one summer. I actually made it just about 4 days. No joke. But back then I was 14 and I didn't have a car or a license so I couldn't go anywhere to entertain myself. I had a tv in my room but we didn't have cable so I had all of 5 channels or so and that got dull watching infomercials at 3 am. I watched movies on my VCR once in a while...but I eventually got so bored I cleaned my entire room and I finally just went to sleep because I was bored. I don't know if I could ever do that again. but i've gone a fairly long time without sleeping.

4 days! That's amazing. That's very hurting to your body too. I do not think you should try it again. Sleeping is good as it helps to rejuvenate. =D Thanks for responding.

well, the longest I ever when without sleep is 48 hours. It was during one of the exercises where we were short of man power and I had to do two consecutive night shifts of guard duty. An inspection of our store was schedules for the same period and we had to get our stuff in order. So it was vehicle maintenance during the day and guard duty during the night. It was really tiring. On the second night, I started to hallucinate. That was when I requested to change shift with a buddy. I was so sleepy, I fell asleep in my uniform on the floor for the next few hours. That weekend, I spent almost 70% of it sleeping to catch up with my sleep debt. One of the rare weekends where I sleep the whole two days away. 8p

ha ha ha... i guess that is the main gripe of most boys that age. At least in field camps, we still get to sleep about 1-2 hours each night. Not that bad considering that we are still recruits. My case was special cos the inspections and the exercises all came at the same time! That was the worst week!

LOL. Army guys are usually compelled to sleep very little. The Singapore Armed Forces have trained you guys to survive with little sleep. Other than Guard duties, I also heard my friends complaining to me about the Field camps. They are slept very little during the Field camps in their BMT days. Thanks for responding. =D

the longest time that i've been through without sleeping is only 22 hours. its was the time of my exams and with just few days i was really struggling and i had no choice but to borrow some time from my sleep, not very healthy but still i had to do it. But the next day was terrible and i counldnt concentrate on any thing and i slept during the day to get myself recharged. so all the time i gained by not sleeping was lost, infact i lost more time than if i had taken proper sleep. from then on i stopped the habit of borrowing from my sleep!

I think it is almost 24 hours when I had a chance to attend a whole night prayer in my church. We spent the whole night in prayer, singing and preaching.

I can sill remember not sleeping for about 20 hours. I was trying to finish a report then. Actually, it was really a nightmare. I got a very terrible headache after. And the sad part about it is that reporting was postponed. Lucky me, am I?...lol...

Well.. such things happen once in a while. Positively speaking, you can have more time to screen through your report since the reporting was postponed. =D Sometimes I get a headache too if I do not have enough sleep. Sleeping is very important and I think we should sleep more. Thanks for responding =D

I guess the longest time I've been through without sleeping was last winter when I stayed awake for almost 48 hours and that got my whole body and mind messed up. It took me a week or so to get back to my normal rythm. What's weird is that I was able to go to school and to my maths preparation during those 48 hours but I can't tell if I remember anything lol.

LOL. I understand that feeling of 'not being able to tell if I remember anything' I bet you must have felt like a walking zombie. Same here. 48 hours is a long time. I hope I never have to stay up that long. Same for you. Thanks for responding. =D

hi there! i have experienced 36 hours awake, facing the computer, and processing data for our research final report. i cannot put words to describe how i feel during that time. i am sleepy yet my brain is still working. my body is tired but my brain and heart says no, you can't stop. im proud to say that eventhough i feel very tired and sleepy, i still process the data correctly. when i got home, it seems that i miss my bed and my pillows.. :-)

more than 24 hours about 2 weeks ago. I just didnt feel like sleeping during bedtime therefore, I did some internet surfing, read some pages from magazines and books, watched some TV, ate biscuits and drank decaf coffee. Then, it was daylight! I still managed to go to work, then slept like a baby at 9pm. If i will not discipline myself, this will become a habit. I have tried to get only around 3 to 4 hours of sleep daily for a week. The result: My immune system suffered I got the flu and UTI. Uhhummm (yawn)! Let's sleep now........

3 to 4 hours of sleep is not enough. You need much more than that. I get very lethargic if I sleep less than 7 hours a day. I will have low energy for the entire day. You are right. Lack of sleep will weaken our immune system. Take care. Thanks for responding. Good night. =D

When I was still a teenager, I used to have sleepless nights. I went 24/7, especially when there are ocassions. But I have stopped it, since it is not good for my health. I can still can't sleep properly though, I am an insomiac. But I make sure that I will do everything just to doze off, I could read or listen to mellow music to help me sleep.

Good that you have stopped that. Sleeping is very important. It helps us to recuperate and to rejuvenate. Maybe you can try running at night. After running, I can sleep better. I hope it helps for you. =D

Actually my question is how long have you gone without sleeping before? LOL But, wow, I'm amazed by the number of hours you can sleep. I have never slept more than 14 hours before. My longest is 14 hours. 24 hours is one full day. I cannot imagine myself sleeping at night and waking up at night again. It's understandable why you slept so long. When one is sick, one should sleep more. Thanks for responding. =D

Same here, the longest time I haven't slept is around 36 hours. I just couldn't believe myself how I could stay up like that. But I just did. But it's just amazing sometimes our body doesn't show any reaction staying awake for so long.

I think maybe 2 days would be mine, but that's not straight. When you're in college, it can happen, but it doesn't you you any good in the health or performance departnment. In many ways, it's still best to sleep to get more work done.

Yes. Sleeping helps to recuperate the body and to rejuvenate too. After sleeping, we feel more energetic. During my schooling days, I used to stay up very late every night to study because I always stay at the very last minute =P Thanks for responding.
