I just got back from Kmart because my sister sent me some money by western union. And thats where I had to pick it up. I was in there for one hour. The lady didnt know what she was doing. She was aking me to spell my sisters name that she couldnt read my writing because it was to sloppy. So I said to her well thats what happens when you dont bring your glasses.LOL And I laughed. But she didnt. So then she asked for the password and you dont have to have one if you dont want to. I told her there was no passcode. And I was right. So she got annoyed with me. Then I heard her say to one of the other employees The customers are really rude today. Loud enough for me to hear. I didnt say anything. But I was really mad. Do you think I should call kmart and tell them.

I would probably just have said something to her there and then - although it might have ended up taking even longer I guess lol! I don't know about calling the store to complain - maybe she was just having a really bad day. Her comment about rude customers suggests that, although of course she shouldn't have said it. I guess calling to complain will get it off your chest though. Personally I flare up quickly but my temper goes down quick as well so unless I deal with something like that at the time it happens then I tend not to do anything about it.

You might try to call the store manager and complain. Nothing happens, call the zone or corporate offices. I would also email KMart but be sure to have the employee's name on hand and the address of the store. I work with the public and there is no need to be a crank. That employee is being paid for doing her job and a big part of customer service is to be mannerly. I agree with the theory, "the customer is always right." If the employee wasn't able to handle the problem, she can always page the store manager and let him/her handle the situation in a timely manner. Hope you have good results should you decide to contact the store itself or corporate offices.

I think you should've confronted her, ask her nicely if she was pertaining to you. Since she mentioned customer in a "third person" manner, because it could not only be you as there would've been others before you. It just so happened that she said the word during the time you're the there, so I would ask her first. I believe that she might changed or rephrase these words, since she'll most likely be intimidated or would realize that you are aware of what she's saying. But if she did meant it for you, I won't have to think twice to walk in-front of k-mart's office and complain!;)

Definitely! It sounds like she was the one being rude and it's those kind of employees that cost customers. They need to know about her attitude so they can talk to her about it or deal with her in whatever way they see fit. For all you know she has behaved like this before and they are just waiting for one more complaint so they can take some disciplinary action against her.

I would of said something to her right there and then. It sounds like you were trying to be funny and ease the mood a bit since she did not know what the hell she was doing. That was a very rude comment and I would of told her so. What happened to good customer service? that surely wasn't it!

I would. It was uncalled for for her to be rude. She is the employee and making a remark that you can hear is not professional. I can't believe it took an hour for her to process this?? Are you kidding? I would ask management why it took so long? Another strike against this employee.

You should call them. Her conduct is uncalled for. Mind you, you should not have told her that she should have worn her glasses. She may not have been able to read your writing. It may be illegible to her. Some people can only read writing if it is slanted a certain way, like right handed people. Still the same, to talk about you in a derogatory manner with other employees, is the height of rudeness and does give the store a bad impression and no store wants a disgruntled employee.

Well I called the store and they knew who I was talking about. They said they would handle it.

I does make you wonder what has happened to good old fashioned customer service doesn't it. I would not be a happy bunny either hun, and inclined to speak to the manager about her attitude.

Well, if I were in your place I would talk to her immediately that very right moment. Its because I want her to realize what she was doing. Then if she still that rude, then that would be the time to report her. I salute your patience during that time. I dont have that enough patience with these kind of people. They would hear me saying something... but in a nice way.

Yea Kmart doesn't train their employees very well at all, my fiancee worked there and their turnover rate was terrible. So the fact that she didn't know how to do anything is no surprise to me. She shouldn't have been rude, but i can see why she was, she had to deal with rude customers all day.... and I am sure there weren't that many employees there since Kmart doesn't like to be prepared or want there to be enough employees on the floor. Most of the people that work there quit within about a month, at least here they do. Go ahead and report her, she is likely to quit soon anyways. They probably aren't going to do much, but might as well make a point and complain that you aren't going to shop there if they are going to continue to hire untrained rude employees. At least thats what i would complain about..... but then again I hate Kmart with a passion. Both them and sears are probably gonna go out of business if they don't stop being greedy and learn how to train the people they hire correctly... and not be so cheap. Kmart is gonna bring sears down with them.

Yes i do. You shouldnt have to put up with poor service. They are employed to give good service. Even if the customers are rude, they are still meant to put on a good apperance. Unfortunately, some people are rude to the employers, which is wrong, but when you dont do anything and get poor service, it makes you think twice before going back there. best wishes to you and take care

TerryZ, you should report her. In the first place, she wouldn't be there in her job if not for the customers. She should have treated you nicely.

Absolutely, call management. Companies need to know how employees treat their customers. That is why so many companies employ "secret shoppers" also called "mystery shoppers". Call, complain and make yourself heard. Hey, who knows...maybe you will get something free out of the deal.

You should. Doing a Western Union is very easy! Should of come to my store ~_^ Plus she should not of said anything about customers, who know how many heard that; it is a good way for Kmart to loss business. She needs to be wrote up or re-trained on how to deal with customers and Western Union.

Yes, you should tell them. I would specifically tell them the situation with the employee name and everything. Their contact information is provided on their website: http://www.kmart.com remember all feedback is good feedback because that let's them know. Perhaps this employee was new, but then if she didn't know how to do western union she should have had another co-worker do it for you. One hour is too long to wait for something like that! Pablo

You should report her. Retail employees are taught that the customer is first no matter what and making a comment like she did was definitely not in her training manual!

If you had time that day, you should have asked for a manager on duty. I would still call that K-mart and even the corporate office. But somewhat in the employees defense, I worked the service desk for K-mart for almost a year and was NEVER shown how to use the Western Union computer. Luckily I only had to use it twice and managed to figure it out for myself. When I first started I asked management and none of them knew how to use the computer either. It was not a very supportive environment.
