The best way to keep your chilly toes warm:-)

Moomin - My lovely furry foot warmer
October 26, 2007 3:48pm CST
The weather is turning colder now, and the autumn leaves have made a wonderful carpet on the back lawn. Gold, bronze, brown and yellow, piling up and covering the grass. This morning the sun was shining into the kitchen as I sat with my coffee and croissant, enjoying the sights and sounds of the garden. Finishing my coffee, I opened the back door and let Moomin into the house for his breakfast and then I logged onto my computer. Now while the sun was shining, there was a real chill in the air and the living room is not exactly the warmest room in the house in the morning so I soon noticed that my bare feet were getting quite cold. Ok, so I could have gone and got my slippers but, as you do, I got distracted and continued typing while my toes got colder. I didn't notice when my toes began to feel a whole lot warmer, didn't really notice that Moomin had finished his breakfast and had come to join me in the living room. I only realised that I had a lovely warm furry foot warmer when I tried to stand up:-) Moomin had me completely pinned down, unable to move, he was very comfortable curled up on my feet and sound asleep. I was stuck, I didn't want to move and disturb him, but I really needed to move. Finally I slowly slid my feet out from under his belly and got a sleepy*miouw* for my trouble. He really doesn't like being disturbed once he has a fully tummy and is asleep. I was made to feel very guilty for waking him up, but I must admit, he did warm my chilly toes up nicely. Do your animals settle down to sleep in strange or odd places?

back in 2005, on one of our few really cold days, i was in bed with out an enough covers. didn't matter, i had 11 cats keeping me warm, or trying to! i had one on top of me, one on the pillow against my head, 2 along my back, 1 cat each on the outside of my legs & 2 between them and 3 up by my chest. I probably should only count Oliver as a partial cat, since he was only about 3 months at that point, but he & Rygel were doing their best at my chest with the other cat. I remember it was Sassy on my pillow, and Scamp on top of me, but I wasn't ever sure who all the rest were besides those 4.

Considering that the normal temp of a cat is 100ยบ, they can keep us very warm. In fact, I just woke up and had Solo, my grandson, on top of me. I think that is a first! Solo was probably sleeping with me that day, down around my feet, but I think Rose chased him up me, she had the whole end of my bed cleared off tonight! LOL A whole lot of "grrs" going on there!

LOL you had a feline fur throw hun. Moomin has always slept on my bed, the extra warmth is lovely until he decides to lick my face to wake me up.

my feet are usually so cold, even the cats refuse to sit on them LOL they will, however condescend to sit next to me,or on my head even better.nothing like 3 cats purring away and heating up my blankets for me ;)

This is not about where my pets sleep and I was going to post this as a discussion so I hope you don't mind if I post it here as a response. My super cool male chihuahua has always amused me when he wants one of the females to play with him he pokes them with him front paw and it usually works pretty well. Now for the past 2 day he has decided to jump on the couch walk along the back then on to my shoulder and poke me on top of my head! He will keep doing it until I quit typing on the computer and show him some attention. Animals are so smart dont you think?

Hi hun, your pooch is quite a character. Animals are often too smart sometimes too aren't they.

I wish I could get Banjo to curl up on my feet. He settles where he likes, usually he sprawls on the longe or on the flokati rug in the lounge. He curls up on my bed and the spare bed. In winter he was curling up under the sheets in the crook of my body but now as it's getting warmer, he sleeps on the top slighty away from me. So I guess the answer is no. LOL.

I only have two kitties now, but like clockwork, when they know I'm ready for bed, they hop up with me and settle up close to me in their favorite spots....you're right..our kitties can be the best warmers going...Oh,...and of course, when they're in bed with me, I don't dare move! Otherwise I'll get a few nasty looks...as if to say.."How dare you move." They only keep me company on my bed in the cooler/colder weather...never the summer..smart, aren't they?

What a wonderful morning you described here. And Moomin is such a fitting name for one of your cats. Anyhow, my two hounds could probably keep my toes warm but they are always busy licking them instead. Both of them are hyper so it's probably out of the question. Got to get myself a kitty. :)

I'd love to meet your cat. I'm typing this with a cat on my lap. She usually sleeps on one of the registers when it's cold, slowly roasting herself. She's a great foot-warmer, especially if she's just finished roasting.

Hi Hun! What a great story (except for disturbing your poor Moomin) who is just adorable by the way. My shihtzu Katie has warmed my feet for me a few times, but she seems to be the happiest in her little dog bed. Have a great weekend hun! Love & Hugzz, Your Friend, PurpleTeddyBear xx
