i usually don't but my girlfriend does.sometimes we are short changed and sometimes over charged. she is very good at this and corrects the waiter/cashier immediately.
but once , the cashier paid me extra change.she made me go back and return it. It was only 50cents,
...but then i thought.. if i didn't, she will be losing some money from her salary from compounded losses . sob

What you are doing now is very unique and wonderful. Keep doing good and good things will come to you automatically. It will soon come when you least expected it .
Not everyone will do it , but it's very rewarding when you see the smile on the faces of the people you have helped :)

Your mum is the best! YES! I like to check the display an the register as items are being rung up because it is easier to have them fix a mistake if you catch it on the fly, but if that is not possible, then I take a quick look before leaving the store. Once home I check it over a little more carefully and make note of some of the prices in my PDA so that the next time we shop I'll have an idea of what things are supposed to cost.
Funny thing, but whenever we find a mistake it is almost always in the store's favor. It is a matter of principle with me. I don't like to be robbed blind, even if it is only a few pennies here and there. I feel that if people get too relaxed about that sort of thing, then the stores will make more and more "mistakes."

Not normally, no. I always have a pretty good idea of how much something is going to cost and if the difference is a lot, then I'll check. Also, I usually watch things being rung up, especially if I have a feeling that it's not going to ring up right.
Both of these things have paid off, too. Two times that I can clearly remember, is when I was shopping for my nephew's birthday and the clothes we picked out were supposed to have an additional 40% off, that wasn't applied (after mentioning this, we received the discount). The other time was when we were out at a restaurant. We were given a lunch menu and charged the dinner price (different portion sizes). They gave us the soda's for free, since the manager wasn't around to adjust the price.

Hey X,
Well if I have an idea of how much I have spent and estimate the taxes on it I might if its way over what I expected. Otherwise I will just assume that its correct. Most times I will do the self checkout, so I can watch the prices ring up and see that things are right.
Why, does your mom do this regularly? Oh and I guess I dont usually spend "all" the money I have...lol Im too freaking thrifty for that!

I never do but that this question has made me think. Sometimes when i do my food shopping it seems a little expensive as i try to keep a running total in my head as i go around the store. It generally ends up being within five pounds of my total but there have been occasions when it is signifcantly more, yet i don't think to check the receipt! I think i'll start doing this now.

two year back i used to never check my receiptbut once after i shopped at a show room i paid twice for the same dress which i didn't notice but i realised it only after i came home.but the the shopkeepers were good enough to give me back the money when i brought it to their notice.but then on i learnt a lesson to check my bill before paying.

I try to watch the prices as the items are rung up. You have to. Sometimes, you will get something on sale and when it rings up, it will ring up as full price. If you aren't watching, the cashier will not correct the mistake and then you have to go to customer service.
I also check the receipt when I get done to make sure that I got the sale prices, my coupons were deducted and things like that. I have made the cashier void the entire sale and start over when I have noticed that there are a lot of MISC. items. I hate when cashiers do that rather than key in the correct codes manually. I make them do it over. See, sometimes when they key it as MISC the just enter what they THINK the price is and then when you make them actually key the codes in, you get a better price.
YOu have to watch these people, sometimes they overcharge you without knowing it, but more often than not, I have found that they try to overcharge me knowingly.

When buying groceries I try to watch as the saleslady swipes every item to make sure there'll be no overcharging. I pay special attention too on items with discount prices, oftentimes these are overlooked. The only times i would bother to scrutinize the receipt is when we go on fine dining. I do it when the bill went higher than my expected budget.

I think It is very important to check the reciept when we went shopping, because the reciept is maybe some wrong ,for example,if you use credit ,but you didn't check it ,and signed your name ,when you retuned home ,and fouud some wrong ,I think it was too late.

I always check my reciept to make sure everything is good. You never know when the lady might ring something up to many times or you might get home and not have something you bought. I always watch the lady ring up my stuff and make sure the price is right.

i always check my reciepts, guess its just a habit now though since its been quite a while since ive found where id been double charged.
that was about 5 years ago actually, i had been charged $20 for a movie that i didnt even have in my cart! i have no idea where the movie came from. i checked the bags before i left the parking lot and there was no movie in there anywhere. so i went right back in and said..hey you charged me for a movie i didnt want, dont have and never even picked up! the manager went and talked to the check-out girl, SHE had the movie under her bag/purse (whatever it was) below her cash register!!
apparantly that wasnt the first time she had done that to customers..and so she was fired! which pleased me very much, especially since she had been doing it to other ppl!

Means you got good mom, always check the paid items on the bills. In Malaysia when I go to TESCO hypermarket, the security guards will ensure that I cannot leave that business premises without paying all the items or for paid items which I do not get. So at TESCO I am really comfortable with the systems applied.
Both parties satisfied before any customer leaving TESCO for home. xboxboy, you should help your mom on shopping matter (count the paid items), ain't you?.
