When you take a pill do you put it at the back of your tongue or just swallow?

I take so much medication that I've had to come up with a way of taking them so I don't end up tasting them. The capsules aren't so bad but sometimes they do get stuck on my tongue and I hate that. The pill type I always place as far back on my tongue as I can and then drink water or juice to get it down.
How do you take pills? As far back on your tongue as possible or just take a mouth full of liquid and swallow?

Yup me too, I take so many that I wonder how they all know where to go! LOL I first take a swallow of my drink to get my mouth good and wet then I throw the whole batch in my mouth and get a good mouth full and swallow it all down at once. I like to get it done and over with. Bla! lol

lololol....how did you ever find that? It's a riot and I take most of the meds they mention!! I'm sending that to a lot of people I know. They will appreciate it.
I've never been able to take more than one pill at a time but wish I could to get it over with too!

I'm jealous of people who can take pills with no water! I need a gallon to get one down.

I have never had problems swollowing pills. I just put them in my mouth take a swig of juice and there gone. My husband is opposite. He has to drink a whole glass to get one pill down. I buy my kids the chewable kinds so they dont have any problems.

It would be great if my meds came in chewable form than I would have no problems. I'm with your husband...it takes a whole glass of whatever to get them down.

I can swallow pills with no water. I often do! I usually just put them in my mouth and take a gulp of water.
I don't take a lot of pills but my vitamin is pretty huge and that goes down fine. I am lucky. My sister needs to be on several pills and cannot seem to swallow them. She almost chokes every time.

I have one med that is very tiny and if I try real hard I can swallow it with no water. But I've found there are times when they are soooo small that it's even harder

I've tried that one also...fill my mouth with as much water or juice as I can then sneak the pill in and swallow. Sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn't.

I totally don't have any problem to take a pill. It doesn't matter whether the pil is in tablet or capsule I can easily swallow it by just put it on the back of my tongue or take a sip of liquid and swallow it. I do like to swallow it together with the chewed food.

I didn't learn how to swallow pills until 17 years ago.I only take the smaller allergy pills but I put them in the back of my throat and I drink a few sips of either soda or crangrape juice and it goes down easily.I haven't tried capsules.

If they are big and fat LOL I put it at the back of my tongue. If they are small and easy to swallow then on the front with lots and lots of water.

I usually just toss them in, ctry, but I have experienced that horrible taste with one of my pills when it gets stuck on my tongue, ugh. It is very hard to get the taste out once it's in there. Since the last time it happened I am trying to be more careful when I take them.

One of my meds tastes horrible if it starts melting before it goes down and I try to remember to cut it before taking it and always forget.

Hello!
I don't like taking pills. As much as possible I would want to avoid them. But I don't have a problem in taking them. I got my own technique, before taking the pills, make sure I got a glass of cold water ready, prepare myself -concentration-LOL! then take the pills and drink water immediately. If I can still taste the pill I would take some sweet drink or sweets..it helps. *smile*
ciao! c",)

i don't have much trouble in taking pills/capsules. i just normally use full of water and swallow it but there are times if the capsule taste bitter, i normally take with a banana. i insert the capsule in the banana and eat it along with the capsule inside it.

That's one I've never tried! I have put them in applesauce, pudding, mashed potatoes and other things. I'll have to give the banana method a try.

I just pop them in my mouth and grab the water and suck it back fast so I don't taste it. Though I don't really take a lot of pills. I have my vitamins and take headache pills and that is about it.

I take alot of different medications too. But i just pop them in my mouth and swallow them with no liquid. After a while you get use to the bad taste.

Ok, a trick taught to me by a doctor. First, yes, wet your mouth and throat, a couple of swallows of drink of choice. Now think about it, capsules have air, tablets don't.. So separate the two. For tablets, put some in your mouth, take about a half swallow of liquid, tilt head BACK a biit the swallow, follow with a couple of swallows of drink. For capsules, same thing but tilt your head FORWARD a bit. One both wait a couple of seconds, gravity will cause the tablets to 'sink' back further or the capsules to 'float' 'up' (actually to back of mouth). what you want is the pills to go down the throat first, followed by the drink to flush them down. Another trick is not to use liquid. Simply use pudding or applesauce. Put some applesauce in a spoon, put pills on top, eat.. follow this with a drink.. We use this method at work for elderly folks who have choking risk and problems with swallowing. Also the taste of the applesauce will cut the taste of the pills and the applesauce will be next to your tongue instead of the meds. My poor mom takes bazooles of pills daily. Since two strokes, she has real troubles swallowing them, she swears by the applesauce technique, but if it is unavailable, she uses the tilt method.
