Can slowing down mean getting ahead? What are your thoughts on this?

I asked myself this question lately, as I feel myself slowing down with my pace in life. I am a type A personality and can get stressed out easily with the things I do. Then a friend of mine constantly reminds me to relax...and it is only now that her advice sinked in. I think slowing down with my pace of life, not only reduces my stress allowing me to relax, but also allows me to enjoy the little joys of life, like going to beach, hugging my dog, appreciating the company of my family, and pausing to thank God for all the blessings I have received. Slowing down can give us a breather with our busy lives. If this is what it means by getting ahead, then I guess slowing down can give us some perspective and get us further in our life's purpose.

I think slowing down means that you are being prudent, you are taking into consideration first the consequences and benefits of your actions, this is better, so that you'll have time to appreciate as well as think about the things that you do...

Exactly.:) Sometimes, I make decisions hastily and I've learned that haste makes waste--in terms of energy, resources, etc. Slowing down makes us use our better judgment. It is an opportunity to pause and rethink our options, widen our perspective and enable us to make better and wiser decisions.:)

Yes, I agree that slowing down means getting ahead. It is important to enjoy all the little blessings in life, not just the big ones. It's important to "stop and smell the roses". When you rush, you don't have time to absorb all the little good things in life and that's unfortunate 'coz when you start absorbing all the little good things in life, you'll realize how RICH you truly are. Friends, flowers, contentment, nature, sunlight, sunset, cute animals, our loved ones...anything.
So yes, let's take time to slow down every now and then!

I agree with you that we need to enjoy all the little blessings in life, not just the big ones. It is true that when we rush life, we don't absorb the beauty and meaning of the little good things which make us realize the wealth that we have. Indeed, God's blessings are seen in the little things we often neglect to appreciate. As the saying goes, success is in the journey not in the destination. So, let's savor every moment in life, the small stuff and as well as the great ones.

hi skimgurl. for, slowing down a bit is necessary. it is just simply having a reprieve to rest and reenergize. The better we feel emotionally and physically, the better we can attain our goals and make our dreams come true. i am so much like you, in more ways than one. one thing i learned is that the more stressed i am, the more my emotions are yoyoing. so i take a break, sleep and watch tv or read. then get back to work.. hehe... i was told so many times than i can count with my hands and feet, that resting is not a sin but a very important thing in life. i am now also trying to stop and smell the roses, so to speak. im not quite there but i am trying. take care and i hope you are better now.... pm me pls. hehehe

Hi shiloh.;) yup we can be so much alike when it comes to being stressed and overworking.. that our emotions can start yoyoing. Indeed at this times we need to be slowing down. Life is not a race as they say. Probably walking is better than running...we get to see more sights and appreciate life as the gift that it is. What do you think?;)

yes we are, skimgurl... and we need to learn from our experiences...ahahah... as to take care of ourselves... as my friend would always remind me that health is the greatest wealth. so, i am taking time to sleep since it is a vacation time for me... to reneergize for my work when i get back next month... hahaha... question...are you ok now? i feel better than i did last week when we chatted. i agree with what you said regarding taking small steps than big leaps... alteast, we will appreciate life more than just simply going out of bed early and sleeping late...and simply swallowing the tasteless food...hahah...the list seems endless..
