Well here's a strange thing!

Earlier today I responded to a discussion started by one of my friends in which he said he was leaving here because of problems he has been having with discussions being removed. In recent weeks some idiot has been giving him negative ratings (well I've no doubt they have also been getting their equally idiotic friends to do it too) so his star has dropped which I think bugged him a little.
Now - the discussion I responded to earlier today was really just saying goodbye to his friends and telling us that he had asked for his account to be closed. Nothing in it that violated the guidelines - I've checked them again to make sure. Actually it wasn't even particularly critical of this site. There are basically hundreds of similar discussions floating round on here because let's face it, some people announce they're leaving on a weekly basis.
Guess what - the discussion is gone! Or at least if it is still here I certainly can't find it and I've spent the last 20 minutes looking for it. His other discussions are still here (well the ones that had not been deleted already) but not that one. No wonder people are looking for other places to play and some of the most interesting myLotters have already left this place.

I believe that all it takes it one "rogue moderator" as another friend described it and it can make life miserable for those targeted. That is too bad. I have so many friends who are no longer here, and one friend who has bounced back four times! I do not know what it takes to get on the wrong side of someone in control, but it keeps happening. I know there are other places to play, but this site has been so easy for me to use it has a special place in my heart. So sorry that someone else has been driven away.

Well I can't think what he has done to get on the wrong side of someone. His discussions were all inoffensive enough. It's the unfairness of it that bugs me so much. And also of course the thought that what can you do if you are targeted? If it's admin that are doing it who do you complain to? I'll miss him anyway. I hope he finds a way back somehow.

There is no one to complain to if one of the mods is on your case. They get to where they delete a post anytime it gets a -, even without reading it, or the discussion to be balanced. My one friend has had four different user names. I did not know him when he had the first one.

But its easy to see what you are saying Stiletto. Look at yours truly and other people who have the lower star ratings. Some are targets of the members and other suspect the mods/admins have an eye on those members too. And ignoring the fact that most times the low star rating members come up with real discussions and can actually contribute to a discussion with real opinions instead of just bandwagoning.
And also there seems to be a report, delete but don't look session going on in recent weeks. So again, not surprised.

Well I have to say your star rating amazes me. I just noticed how low it was the other day because normally I don't pay much attention to these things. I'm not saying this to flatter you but if your discussions and responses aren't "quality" then what the heck is?? I've read some of your responses where you are fairly blunt but not rude or offensive or anything like that. Obviously you've made an enemy on here so that's why and to me that just sucks!

I know to whom you're referring... he is also on my friends list, and about the only one who consistently replies to any of my discussions. I'll miss him for that, for sure.

I understand your friends problem but there's only so much mylot can do. Seriously this is a place to just kick back have fun and make a little spending change. Nobody asked your friend to leave, he chose to. I feel his ego got hurt if anything and this is his way of getting back. He leaves, there will be a few hundred people to replace him everyday. He hould just come back and enjoy the site for what it is a forum.
I do agree some ppl have alot of time on their hands and giving ppl negative ratings when they don't deserve it, is wrong. I don't know how getting paid works here except more posts= more money, but i do feel if your rating is really low you won't make as much .

This happened to me too, my ratings and earnings were affected by these deletions. With this, I asked mylot admin the factors in which such discussions that doesn't seem to be violating any guidelines gets deleted. They told me that someone might have reported it or that someone (a responder for instance) has violated a guidelines.
Sometimes, these responders are the one's that triggers mylot to delete the whole post and that affects us all who participated on that topic. We can never be sure who posts Quality, since they (mylot) are the one's who knows what these standards are.
Also posting such topics/discussions about ratings, personal conditions or anything that is posted just to boost the ratings will be deleted automatically as these all falls under the DON'Ts section of the guidelines. I have avoided most of them, I only respond on one topic and avoid repeating it from posting/responding to a similar topic on the same day. But I'm still hoping for a legitimate answer coming from mylot, to atleast alert us about such updates like what we used to receive back then..

Hi Raijin - I've never had a discussion deleted before (although this one might be I guess!) but I've lost lots of points from responding to discussions that were later deleted. I used to try to be careful what I responded to but now I don't worry because it's impossible to determine what will and won't be deleted. It seems to be so random the way they do it.

It is sad so many people are leaving because of this sort of thing, I can't believe Mylot isn't doing more to prevent it. There should be an independent person who checks the persons account before their star rating is dropped to see if they are really violating any terms or if it's just because of a grudge or disagreement.

I am really sorry for your friend he have to leave. I have never hear such a story that someone was being rated negative many times. That is really rude and I believe it wasn't very pleasant for him. Yeah I have seen many of my friends left too, but without even saying goodbey or something, but I i think it was also other reason. the thign I wonder is where all the people are going? Is there some similar place like mylot?

Well I think a lot of people have gone to Yuwie although some (like me!) have tried it and come back here again. I must admit I do like myLot, I've been a member for well over a year now, but there are things about it that really bug me. This sort of ganging up on people and driving them out of here is one of them.

I'm new here so I don't know alot about mylot but I think their may be people who can go around and delete a post if they feel it's not something they like. They can use the guidlines loosely and if that's the case then they could probably delete all posts when you come down to it.
I suspect because of my "strange viewpoint" as I'll call it, I will probably...uh...how do I put this...have a very interesting time here.

It's not that difficult to make enemies on here - all it seems you have to do is speak your mind and if someone doesn't like it then you're in trouble! However I wouldn't let that stop you - just enjoy yourself on here. I'll watch your posts with interest though! Thanks for responding.
