Absolutley yes we can turn anything we are good at into a profitable business, but you do have to carefully consider what you mean by 'profitable'. if its simply that the selling price of an item is more than the cost of materials and the wage you set on your time, then its easy to make individual sales profitable. If you mean is it possible to earn a good living from selling what was a hobby, then its rather more complex and can take a huge amount of work to develop a turnover that is large enough to live on the profits. The reason for this is purely that most hobbies are deliberately time consuming, take knitting for example, it probably takes several days to knit a garment, so you are limited automatically in how many garments you can sell a year. You may find a buyer for a few at the right price, but can you make and sell enough to pay the mortgage? Thats when it becomes tricky.

Lots of people have done just that, I could not give you concrete example off the cuff, but when I do come across some, I will post them here. A passion for something can translate into a profitable business, but it depends also on how business-savvy you are. Passion alone does not translate into good business....

I fully agree with you. To start a business you should have enterpreneur thrust

I think, it's very much possible to turn our hobbies to earn money. Infact I am doing that here. May be the amount is vey meagre but I am sure with more and more time devotion I would get a respectable ammount some day.
Thanks.

I believe it could be. It's just a matter of time and patience. It comes down to how much time are you willing to put into it to make it successful and of course investing some money into it. I've learned that as well with designing web pages. It takes a lot of time and patience and if you don't have that (well that goes for everything in general), then quite honestly it won't work out.
