Virgin Mary on a pebble?

An interesting item being sold on Trade Me the New Zealand auction site is a small pebble being auctioned as I write. The bidding has been up and down but now stands at $27,000 with a buy now of $70,000, it was at $31,700 but top bids were removed for various reasons mainly for being a hoax bid. The auction finishes today (wed). It has been discussed on TV, Radio, Bloggs etc with a great lot of interest, some good some not so good. This lady has had 165402 views and hundreds of questions asked. I would love to know some peoples views on selling religious images on items that have been found with these images on. Thought it would be quite interesting.

I hadn't heard about this pebble but in the past have heard of other such things. As for selling such items I guess it would depend on the person and their own beliefs. I honestly think although I need money badly that if I found something like that I would be tempted to either keep it for myself or display it someplace where others could enjoy it also.

The reserve price was $30,000 and the lead bids were removed so it went under reserve and didn't sell in the end. I wonder what will happen to it now, lots of suggestions on the site, maybe a book etc. It was watched with great interest by a lot of people, wonder if anyone will take option to buy or ask for it to be relisted, will have to keep my eye out for it. I suppose all people look at things differently, there are some who will bet on two ants racing while some would wonder what kind of ants they are, some have strong beliefs in certain objects and others view it as just being silly. The pebble did not sell in the end so don't know now what will happen to it, it certainly had a lot of people view the auction about 172200 at the end which is quite a lot for this small nation.
