Did your opinion change once you hit 100 posts?

For the most part like 99% of Mylotters, they are so polite and kind even when we may not have the same opinion. I have really enjoyed my time here and have really loved the support I get from Mylotters. I have shared some very close views and feelings I don't always share in the real world. For that I thank you. But a few times recently I had a couple people respond to my discussions who insulted me and were very rude. I found they didn't read the whole discussion because they missed my whole point and question totally and are usually under the 100 posts. So this got me thinking. Have any of you see this? Did you change how you posted when you realized it was being rated by mylotters? Or are you just always polite/rude?

Hi, I have not faced any Rude or Insulting responses from Mylotters whenever I have started a Discussion. So I am quite shocked to know of such a thing . As for me I am always Polite and supporting of others on MyLot . Have a great Day .

Okay the is my FIRST post and I intend to make it a great one! I think it was wrong for whomever it was to purposely dish out malicious comments like they did but, they could just be ignorant and didn't understand the whole article so I try to be a lil forgiving. Another thought, when the time & place comes... I can be mean, I can be mean as all hell and I don't like people telling me to shut up, or to be considerate, because I do NOT live in America to hear garbage like that! I'm not going to be the type of person who damages themselves from keeping to many things bottled up inside, forget that! If you do something that gets to me... believe me, You're Gonna Find Out! but that goes both ways so don't think I won't run all the way down the street just to ask about your jeans!

Well, I try to be honest, but not be mean if I don't agree. There are just people out there who like to be rude, they like the attention. Also, it could just be an off day for that person too... I know I've done that before.

Yup, when I notice I'm doing that because of my mood, I'll stop and just go play games, and come back later...

True sometimes I have days when I am not in lovely moods. But no reason to take it out on anyone except the boyfriend. LOL

I was always just the same as I am now. It's because I take everything way too seriously, to be honest. That might not seem to be the case, with all my flirting and silliness, but what I mean by that is... I am the same person in all worlds. Online or offline, I am me. So I treat everyone I see online just the same as I would treat them if I met them offline, whether I am being rated or not. It's an honor thing for me. Sometimes I look at others and wonder if perhaps they have no honor, but I treat them as my own honor requires just the same.

Thank you. =) I agree, rudeness and insults are simply not acceptable, here or anywhere. I love when people's opinions are different from mine and we can still be friends actually. I've got quite a few friends here who feel very differently than me about certain things and yet we still get along, and that's awesome! =)

I totally agree that you seem like a real person on here and have a distinct personality. I feel you are very honest on here and I like that about you. There is honesty and rudeness. I like getting different views but not insults. Thanks lecanis

The thing that gets me is just people who continue to argue opinions. You can't argue opinions because no one will win you know. People just don't realize that. My opinion hasn't changed on mylotters actually. I still think they're all stupid :p I think every day on mylot people continue to be ridiculously predictable which is just ridiculous... ridiculously ridiculous!

I'm me and always will be, as you know Vic. We might not agree on a particular subject, but I would never turn rude on somebody unless they have a go at me first. That have and will never change. My fav quote is: Be to others as you want others to be to you.

I always love your posts Kim because I feel like it is coming from a real person even though we don't always see eye to eye. You tell me how you feel without insulting me and are polite. You never hurt my feelings ever. We all can have different opinions without offending anyone. Thanks KIM!

My responses are always in synch with my thoughts and in my part i've never changed the way i give my responses...might be those people wanted to just give some long responses to make money and hence it happened like this to you...i feel very sorry for you in that part!! Anyways there are many polite people over here still!! Happy Mylotting :)

Yes. When I reached 100 posts I realized that it's very important the way to write discussions or responses, so now I pay more attention when I write and I try to write posts of at least two lines.

I think that your opinion didn't change after you hit 100 posts, Its just that you have to have the right attitude to participate in discussions here. The ones that were so rude to you didn't have the right attitude to begin with, that's why they don't have as many posts, and probably don't get as many responses to their discussions. A negative attitude will ruin everything for a person, so just keep your attitude positive and ignore negativity.

This is a good point to raise Vicki. Thankfully I have not had the experience of anyone being rude...knock on wood!!! However I do notice that members who are not interested in creating a sharing circle or participating in more thought provoking discussions often drop by with a quick, flip answer and upon occasion there is no relevance whatsoever to the topic. From what I have read some newer members heard you could make money by posting on Mylot and they flip around to as many sites as possible and think that the credits will increase their earnings. When it doesn't I think they lose interest and then comes another bunch of newbies that do the same thing. It seems the members who want to engage in respectful dialog with each other are willing to invest the time and energy to respond in more thoughtful ways. In my case the approach I have in chatting on line is the same as it is in person. I was raised to treat ALL people with dignity and respect. My value system and moral compass is grounded in that and so I communicate with people on line...with the Golden Rule as my yardstick. I treat others the way I'd like to be treated and in the 'what goes around comes around principle' it has always worked out in the end. So that is my perspective on this one...so long for now! Best regards, Raia

I have been lucky that most comments have be wonderful and kind even when our views were different. I have come to really value the group of people here I write with, you included Raia. ;) I did first come here because of the money but stay for the friendships I have made. Thanks for responding

Soem people have a mean and rude streak imbedded in them. My advice to you though is not to take it personally and continue to do your posting because there are real nice and decent people on Mylot who will treat you with respect and love. Sorry that you had to endure their meanness though. God bless!

Sometimes I think either people don't read the entire post or they may not have a kind word to say in the first place. Sometimes, I've found people will respond just to make their number go up. I don't think it's fair. I guess it takes all kinds. I don't expect everyone to always have to same opinion all the time but there are ways to say things and still be polite. But like I said, it takes all kinds.

Rate? what is the rate? Im sorry Im new in here. But I believe that even we are rated or not, we should always be polite with other people whether we know them well or not. Because the things that we say can affect other people in some ways. Its good to give thoughts and opinion without offending or hurting someone. Can I have good friends here?

When you get to 100 posts you will see a star with a number in it. When you post there is a rating -/+ on the right hand side that other people can rate your post. This place is actually really really great to have good friends here for sure and you post was awesome thanks!

I dint change when I hit 100 but I still sometimes feel like I dont want to disagree but I have to and feel my rating will refect it at sometime even though I never directly insult or anything close to that I question peoples reasoning and I feel they wont like that. I sometimes just go away but I feel if we disagree than maybe we can have a long conversation about why we dont agree and maybe make some cents out of it or maybe even make some sense out of it lol.

I agree that we should be able to disagree in a way that is not insulting a person directly. Thanks so much for posting.

I have always kept my opinion, but sometimes I find when the post was very long, I did not get what it was about because the poster rambled on about her poor kitty, her being at the store when the red car drove by, and I did not know what they were asking, so I just read between the lines and gave my opinion on what she could do, or what she should have done. After all, I have had that happen to me many times. I do not worry what people would think, because that leads to writing the answers that they want, and I do not want to do that. I am usually polite though, but I will not change what I believe is right or wrong because someone or some will get angry that I did not agree with them.

I've been quite lucky so far. I haven't had any specially rude answers to my discussions - hope it stays that way LOL But I think that some new poster that are still not really aware of how myLot works can sometimes answer a bit more impulsively and without the necessary tact. Then as they are her more and start being aware of the environment in here they tone it down a bit. Of course there will always be people that are rude - but those know they won't get more in terms of responses or comments.

Thanks arkaf61! I agree that 99.99% of all comments left are so nice and supportive even when our opinions aren't the same so when I get one that is so off it is surprising.

Usually I haven't run into too many issues and I don't give anyone problems on it at all. I haven't yet and I don't intend to at all. I don't change the way I post, I'm generally plite and easy to get along with. I just try to be myself and that's it. There's really nothing else I could possibly do.

I am myself on here too. I heard there are even people here who make up stuff just to get money. Pretty sad, I don't know if I ever posted in that type of discussion though, I generally think people would lie. Just being myself is confusing enough. LOL

For me personally, my style of posting has not changed since my very first discussion here at myLot. I think people are either rude or their not. That is not saying that everyone doesn't have an "off" or sensitive day. But for the most part you can tell which posters are which.

I just reached my first one hundred posts, i'm so proud of myself. I'm quite lucky i haven't got any rude remarks yet and hope i ever won't. From what i've read from here those who post rude comments are people pissed off with bad spellings and most especially redundant and super non-sense questions/discussions. I just wish for them to ignore and move on to other posts rather than commenting rudely. Let's give everybody here a chance.

Congrats on your 100 post! Thank you very much. I would never get upset if someone has poor grammar or spelling. Many people here are from countries where English isn't their first language, so considering they can even write in a second language is more than I could do, they deserve my respect. If someone is making a redundant discussion I would just move on. Everyone does deserve a chance and people don't have to be rude.
