Now I know what it's like to be "without my meds"...

I've been taking Paxil for about six years now for anxiety and depression and recently, due to a bit of a mix-up between my pharmacy and the doctor's office when I needed refills called in, I found myself without it for several days. I'd missed taking it a couple days in the past and I felt a little light-headed and dizzy but nothing major but this time I was a total basket case! I just cried and cried and CRIED all day! I cried at my grandson's midget football play-off game, I cried all through Brothers & Sisters, I cried when I watched the news. I even cried when I read some of the responses to my myLot posts! Has anyone else ever had a similar experience with this drug or any other one? By the way, I got my refill so I'm much better now!

I am so sorry to hear that you had to experience that. This is one thing that I never want to go through. I have been taking Paxil for seven years. If there is a problem or mix-up, I will fight with whomever I have to to get my meds refilled.
Even if I can only get a couple of them that day, I refuse to go without them. I am well aware of the withdrawal symptoms and I do not ever want to experience that. I am very sensitive and soft hearted all the time. I cry very easily, so I know that without Paxil, I would be a basket case also.

I cry very easily too, so I was really a mess, talk about a melt down! I'll sure make sure this never happens again, I'll guarantee you of that. The worse part is when I called the doctor's office the next day (Monday) the nurse told me she'd spoken to the pharmacist and she 'd said the pills were ready for me but I'd never shown up. I had gone there twice and then called and was told they weren't there. The one pharmacist had given me a few pills to get me through a few days but I ran out again. Anyway, after talking with the nurse I called the pharmacy again and was told they'd had them for 6 days...6 DAYS and here I was losing it! It wasn't a pretty sight!

So it was the pharmacy that screwed up. They would be very careful to make sure that never happened to me again. I do not play when it comes to my meds. And I don't have patience for the run around. There needs to be good communication between your doctor's office, the pharmacy and you.

Oh dear Annie...
You may think I'm pretty distant but I once again see where you are coming from here. I had no idea you had an issue with anxiety/depression/crying. Oh wait, you got your refill? You're better now? I'm glad. Though I'd say there may be some underlying issue that may have to be looked into, I'm at least glad you are better now.
I think for me, the one time I was caught without meds at the time was when I was really dealing with allergies. Oh no, I didn't run out... I did a typical patient fallacy. When I got better I quit taking the medicine. Well...my body didn't like that and I was back with the symptoms again after a week. Showed me, eh.

I take Prozac now and prefer it. I had been on Paxil, but it was not working so well for me anymore as of a few months ago. When my doctor switched my meds, that helped a lot. I am more clearheaded now and not nearly as miserable as I was previously. I have also lost some weight too.

I'm so glad you are much better now, sounds quite rough, the last few days. My wife is also on medication for depression, with OCD tendencies, and at one stage, I was putting a sheet of medication away, so that on the rare occasion that she forgot to get a scrip filled or whatever, and ran out, I had the back up for her. I also think it's hard for people suffering disorders who, because the medications can work so well, decide that they don't need it, and stop it themselves!

I don't take Paxil, anniepa, but I do go through changes when I am off my meds for awhile. I have been off my main one for a couple of months now, and I feel awful. I will be going to the doctor next week, and will I ever be happy! I missed one appointment, and then when I was ready to reschedule I found that he was on vacation. I could have seen another doctor, but I decided I could wait.

It's amazing how the personality changes when you don't take your stuff.I get real mean and nasty with people which is why I don't get off the stuff.Of course I get that way with sometimes.
