Spamming MyLot Members...Ggggrrrrrr

As most of you know, I love putting comments on ppl's profiles. It's just something I like to do. I've run into a problem though...some members (I won't name names) have been putting ad's on the comment sections of ppl's profiles (this is actually spam as I understand it). Because of this, I can't add a comment. I don't know what the problem is but whenever there is an ad at the top of the comments section it won't let me add a comment.
The other day I was going to leave a Birthday comment on someones profile and couldn't b/c there was a big long ad on it. Personally, I think it's rude to do that...if you want to post links to sites you endorse, put them on your own profile and let friends know they are there and let them choose to use them.
I personally delete any comments with ads in them. I don't care if it is a little line in your signature but a big long post about another site is tacky...to me anyways.
So if you don't get any comments from me...it is either b/c there is an ad at the top of the comments section or some ppl don't have a comment section on their profile (I know some ppl don't like them...that's a personal choice). If you want a comment from me, you'll either need to delete the ad or wait until someone else can post above them before I can add one.
What do you think about it? Am I being too cranky about it?

Yeah, I found the one huge one that had snuck into my profile and was clogging things up.
It didn't take but a minute to remove the offender.

You are not being cranky about. In fact you are better than I would be. If I see any sites mentioned, I delete that person from my friend list.

I think that is so annoying. They don't have anything better to do with their time or what?!

Hello Twoey,
Oh my gosh, this discussion just prompted me to check out my own page. And imgine my surprise to see your lovely greetings. I feel like a real oaf for not having seen them before.
So, as I thank you for taking the time to share your cheer, I'll also add that you are not being cranky AT ALL! Spam stinks, and if it interferes with your ability to send happy, cheerful notes, then it's even more annoying.
Now, if I'm reading your post right, you'd enjoy seeing us delete all those crappy spam notes left on our member pages? If we get rid of those, will you be able to be a stealth cheer-giver again? Hey, doesn't that rank you right up there with Santa and the Easter Bunny? (chuckle, chuckle)
Thanks Twoey!

I don't like those either and I would delete them when they are put on my profile. In fact my profile says No referral links please. Because I don't even like them PMed to me. Even though I first came here because the money I stay because of the good friends I have made. I really enjoy talking to people here. I don't like being pumped with SPAM and would like to have a place where it is limited. I have seen those big huge SPAMS on peoples profiles. Yuck in my opinion.

Hey t68,
I don't think you're over reacting - I wasn't even aware of it until a fellow MyLotter posted a discussion about it & I had to go delete spam from my comments-yes I think thats rude-I also think it's rude to spam members by pm.

If you are being cranky then so am i! I grew so tired of this problem that i blocked everyone from writing on my profile at one point except those who were friends, eventually i weened out the friends who were only friends to get reference points and got left with the best people on my friendship list - non spammers, i found that those who spam aren't exactly good friends on here anyways so i deleted them and kept those who started good discussions and answered mine :)

Hi thanks for bringing that to my attention, I very seldom read comments I don't know why may because I never make any but notice I have 38 shame on me for not noticing, I do wonder how you guys get all those lovely cards etc. haven't a clue, so sorry I haven't acknowledged your comments will try to do so in the future and I did remove an add one just a few minutes ago. I really am glad you posted this post or I never would have noticed.

I hate them too and when that happens I delete their comment. I actually ended up deleting that person who was on my friends list because it just became TOO much and I even told them NO MORE but did they listen, no, they didn't even care and kept on spamming so I deleted them LOL

I couldn't agree with you more twoey! I have had problems leaving comments because of spam, and if anyone puts a spamish comment on my page I delete it right away, no questions asked!

I have noticed this also, twoey, and it is in poor taste. The fact that I am on myLot does not mean that I am necessarily looking for other money-making opportunities. Goodness knows, I receive quite enough offers in my email! But, you are right, this is considered spamming according to the guidelines. If I were interested in these ventures, I would PM a few of my friends and ask them to send me a referral.

No, you have every right to be angry, that is rude, I don't check my profile much anymore because I can't customize it, so I just stay in the discussions...

Problem is, unless the members here decide to do what you do, there is no solution to Stop this, and maybe the person doing it thinks nothing of it. Can they do this if they are not your friend, or just as your friend?

Another thing that is agravating is when someone has or someone put a popup or popunder add on the profile either the profile owner or someone who left a comment.
If you can tell I hate popup's

Ya know what??? I keep meaning to thank you and apologize to you... I very RARELY look at my profile and when I did a while back I saw that I had comments - a couple from you!! - and they were weeks old... I felt really bad about it and kept meaning to thank you for them. I hope you don't think I'm rude.
Fortunately, I don't have any that are spam (if I noticed them I would delete them). And although I have approached people here on myLot about my business, don't think it's appropriate to put it in the comments section - that's not even very business-like!
Hey, but thanks for the comments!!!!

personally it is very annoying. I have not had that happen to me here yet thank God but however I have had it happen alot wiht my myspace account and my facebook account. I usually just delete them then send the person a nasty note about it so they never do it again. People who do that should be booted off sites like this never to return again. wishful thinking huh.
