What motivates you to clean your home?

Some days I just don't feel like cleaning. So, I let the cleaning slide for a few days until motivation arises. And, then I run around the house washing and dusting until I drop in a pile of exhaustion on the couch. Most times I'm motivated to clean when we are going to have guests. I don't want someone to see my messy house.
Other times I'm motivated to clean, so that my daughter will have a clean play environment. Germs cause illness. And, I'm a germ-phobe at heart. Plus, I don't really like a messy house. So, that's my biggest motivation to clean. What's your motivation to clean? What makes you get up off the couch when you're tired to start cleaning?

Well my motivation is having 4 kids under the age of 5 so basically if i dont clean and tidy then the house honestly looks like a bomb has hit it lol.
I would say important guests or at least ones that dont come round all the time order a massive clean up where things get thrown out or stuffed away in the attic (for safe keeping lol) and the floor polisher and carpet cleaner get a good airing :)

My kids are adults but when they were little that was always a motivation to clean as they did make messes all the time. HAHAHA! Now the grandsons visit and it's cleaning time once they leave. Never ends?
HAPPY POSTINGS FROM GRANDPA BOB !!~

Just yesterday afternoon I cleaned one of my rooms as I wanted to move the bed in another direction, which motivated me to clean the room and mop the floor all over.

My biggest motivation is my fear of bugs. They love dirty messy houses so if I keep it clean and keep putting surface spray around I'm ok.

i will start cleaning my house when i feel its already so much messy. thats my main motivation. if i feel it still good enough, i just tend to neglect it and just clean in small thing :) i like clean place but if its too clean, it made me afraid to use or make dirt on that. well, it sound i m kind a perfect person, am i?

Well that is one thing I do not like to do but I love a clean house so I endup cleaning because I know after the task I will be very happy. Secondly in an untidy house I do not feel like eating anything so that is another motivation which makes me clean it.

I just can't stand to have a messy house so I clean it mostly for myself. But there are days like you said that I let things slide, but then it just really bothers me and I have to clean up big time so things are back in order. And if someone comes to my houes I don't want them seeing things all messy.

I get very motivated to clean the house if I know that people are going to be coming over. I also get motivated if I can actually see dust on the coffee table. I start by just dusting the coffee table, but since I have the cleaner out I may as well do the entertainment center, pretty soon I'm doing all the dusting and I just keep going. I try and do a good cleaning every weekend so it doesn't get very bad though.

Clean environment is a motivating factor for a person to be active and brisk besides exhibits his life style. To protect from infections, cleanliness is a must. For taking rest and sleeping we need a clean area. These are also the factors of the self motivation. In order to avoid adverse comments from visiting friends and relatives is also a motivating factor. The foregoing points will keep your house clean and neat

I dont know,i really check everything is in order. Everything is clean before my hubby arrives from work I have to double check that everyday. Before i do mylotting. And sit here for hours and hours.
I have to make sure that the bed is done and the clothes are washed if needed to do so. I have to make sure that the kitchen sink is polish and dry and clean . Mt hubby and I make a point that everything is organize once a week ..We clean together as we mess together and clean again. Actually were making a good team when it comes to cleaning. No need to motivate myself i make it as a habit to start the day right and end the day with a smile sleeping in a clean place.

With my hubby deployed, it is very easy to forget about housework. So when I know it needs cleaned and just don't feel like doing it, I always consider the fact that one of my neighbors could stop by any moment with their kids who will run in to play with my kids. I don't like to be embarrassed over my house, so I like to keep it clean so that I won't have that embarrassment or have to make up an excuse as to why they can't come in.

Having visitors motivates me, I ask that people let me know when they are coming so I can have time to clean up my little world, as far as house work is concerned I have never been over fussy but i do have it as nice as possible for visitors.

When I can't stand my mess house any more. Then I will make up my mind to clean it. And usually it will spend me a few days finishing it.

My motivation to clean the house is when there is some guest coming to see me that makes me clean the house before my guest comes as I don't want my messy house to be seen. lol

I'm an obsessive compulsive. there are certain things I can completely ignore. like, dirty dishes in the sink. Dirty clothes on the floor falling out of my hamper. etc. But then there are things I can't stand to leave alone, like my bed always has to be made. My car has to be clean on the inside of trash, not dust. ha ha. Certain parts of my kitchen must be clean and my bathroom.
other things I can just let go, but not everything. so I have to be in the mood to clean the stuff that I'm not obsessive about. so being in the mood is partially a motivation and obsessive is. the other.
