I do have my fav but the way things are going in australia at the moment even if they were not my favI would have voted for the oposition (lucky they are).
I do not get involved a lot as I am fed up with boken promises and only hearing things before the election and never again. we have local elections, state election and national election and you have to vote. Last time I tried to talk to few of the candidates about issues that were close to my heart and I got some obvius lies that I did not buy (nothing was done so I was right not to belive it) so in protest I marked my paper with big X (only because I had to go or get a penalty if I had the choice I would not heve even gone there)

oh this "democratic" country of ours forces you to show up on the day or face penalty or fine. You have to pay money but I am not sure how much.

I also vote, after reading all I can about the issues. I don't watch TV anymore so I get a lot more variety than the average citizen, in my opinion.
It irks me when so many people whine and complain about the government and yet only 30% or so regularly vote. At least the last election had a little, but significantly more, if I remember correctly.

Actually I do not take part in elections and I don't show much interest in election as I think that it is well planned before we are asked to elect, which doesn't make much sense to me. hehe.

Definitely. In fact I'm becoming more of a political observer, commentator and critic. Its good, but of course there are complaints and other parts of it that can leave me in agony.

I always take part in elections, since that is the only time where I can excercise my right as a citizen of my country. Also, it is one time where we can really have the freedom to choose the leaders of our nation.
Though I don't talk to electors like presidentiables and other high-ranking candidates, I always make sure that I watch them and research their background and credibility..
