How does the ranking work?

Anyone know how the ranking works or what it represents? Just curious please an thank you.

Don't know the exact mechanics but here's what happens.
You post something and certain things can happen, its all based on other members.
You could be rated positive for responding to a persons thread or making good posts, discussions. You could be rated negative for being abusive to another member, being off topic. Or you could be screwballed, rated negative because someone doesn't like your opinion on you yourself.
Just don't be too vociferous and you should be fine.

thanks that helps but what is the rating for? is it just there for show or does it affect certain actions you can make? Thats what im more curious about? Does rank help acheive some sort of goal? or is it just there to show off to other members depending on how much you write and how much people like what you write?

Its there for show. I don't really know if it effects earnings, but I wouldn't doubt it. You'll see several other members with lower star ratings, plenty of them actually contributing posts and discussions of substance.
